so far I know you can get bride rails and a nizmo seat but that's gonna cost me and arm and leg. my hair is brushing the top of my S14 and I need some way to get me more head space.

I assume you have a sunroof, right? Well you could removed foam from the seat, but it wouldnt be comfortable.

You could make a cardboard mock-up of what you need then just bring it to a shop and have them cut and fold the metal. Shouldn't take more then $50 or so. Just drill a few holes in the right places to make it adjustable. It wouldn't be sliding or anything, but it'd work like a charm.

If you're speaking of Bride rails and Nismo seats, why are you asking about CHEAP ways of lowering seat height?

can I make rails for the stock seat to make it lower or do I have to go get an aftermarket seat?

You could always try bungee cords!

But seriously, you can do anything with a little time thinking about it.
