View Full Version : Thoughts/opinions/suspicions on the Tiger Woods situation?

Just wanted to hear everyone's opinion about the Tiger Woods situation.

Tiger has been my (golf) idol since I started playing 13 years ago, when I was 12. I am an avid golfer (2 handicap) and have followed him very closely throughout his entire career.

I remember the first time I watched him was during his 2nd US amateur win, a long, long time ago.

What does everyone think REALLY happened?

A "guess" of mine

I think Elin may have found out some things (in his phone maybe) that showed Tiger perhaps was cheating, and she physically assaulted Tiger, leading to the scratches and bruises and cuts, etc.

Reports say there was no blood in the car....

Soooooooooo.........Tiger, being a smart guy, did the following.

Had to play in tournament this week, public would see cuts, bruises on him and ask why?

Rather than having to explain, he INTENTIONALLY crashed his car into the fire hydrant and tree (at a less than lethal speed, well calculated) to make it look like the injuries were sustained in the crash.

There is no reason why he would be sober and crash like that, so that's my guess as to what happened.

lol that is a good guess, I was thinking there was a fight as well

All I have to say is that Tiger Woods, just like all of us, is human and bound to make mistakes.

I for one did not like that woman putting Tiger on blast....talk about attention whore. The leaked voicemail can be taken different ways. My brother's wife is very insecure and will go through his phone and question ANY girl that's on his phone (besides my mom :keke:). One time he got a classmates number so they can plan on a time to study for an exam and when his wife found out she blew up only to find out that nothing was going on.

If anyone is curious about the voicemail....

Not so smart as to leave a fucking voicemail on someones phone pretty much putting the nail in the coffin.

I think it needs to be dropped. There are much more important things than who tigers fucking but this being america everyone gives a shit about other people before themselves.

Don't condone cheating
but we don't know the details of Tiger's private married life and what led him there
so who knows, maybe wife is frigid or Tiger is a freak and wife won't do some things
not making excuses for him, just saying we don't have all the info

now, he's an idiot for going about it the way he did
common sense would tell anyone that leaving evidence (text message, voicemails)
like he did is just plain stupid
so he deserves whatever comes his way
best thing his wife could do is divorce him and bank

well a lot of ppl cheat,
but the awful way he handled this was worth a good laugh.
for all the effort he tried to cover up & minimize the attention,
I think he only ended up making it much worse.

his apology speeches struck me as a bit arrogant and distant.
I doubt most ppl will think better of him after this incident.

I also don't understand why ppl as famous, wealthy, & unfaithful as Tiger would see the need for marriage.
Just stay single and enjoy the good bachelor's life.
Not like he's that old anyways.

thoughts:

this would be interesting if he were my neighbor, because maybe some shit's going to go down and i could throw a lowball offer on their house
but since he's some guy who lives in a different state, it doesn't matter to me at all.

Well, since its all out now that he was cheating...

Sure he's human and makes mistakes... But cheating, especially multiple times...and with multiple women really cannot be forgiven.

He's a great golfer and philanthropist... However, a douchebag in regards to character. But since I dont know him personally, I dont think the latter really matters.. Bleh..

Actually it does as of a couple years ago.
It's just some second rate league, but surprisingly the stadium is always packed, which cannot be said for any other local sport, besides maybe soccer (also surprisingly).
The teams are also actually good, pretty sure the KC soccer (hate the term soccer) team is one of the best in the country right now, yet both get virtually no media coverage, because all the media attention goes to the Chiefs and Royals, which are the two most pathetic teams in the country.

 on how Tiger handled the situations

I also don't understand why ppl as famous, wealthy, & unfaithful as Tiger would see the need for marriage.

It's about politics and status. Being married and having a family is looked upon greatly vs. being single and messing around with various woman.

In my opinion he never crashed his car. It's all made up.

Yeah sounds good to me.

I am in grad school, and was a "student member" at the club here.

The pro was letting me use the range and I got down to 1.8 last summer.

New pro/managment came in and won't let me/friend use range at all (douche bags, private club that lets school have student memebers since it's on our campus).

Now my handicap is up to 5-ish.

Without being able to beat balls, I just have no motivation really, bc I know I will suck unless I practice.

I love beating balls with my clubs. Beating balls.

The media is just having a field day with this. If only Tiger was more open and sincere with the public at first, it might not have exploded with all kinds of allegations. Now there's rumor he's moving to Sweden. =/

Sweden is nice.
I like the scenery and food there.
However, if he his doing this to escape the media,
he is a damn fool.

Tiger might be a wonderful athlete,
but as he comes across being arrogant, clueless, and a general pos.

You can pretty much use that reply (as a template) to every thread started in OT.

i.e. Thread about 'Aliens'
Not Juan and Maria- little grey men, abductions, UFO's, cattle mutilation, weird 30 something year old virgins sitting out in the desert with tinfoil hats trying to send messages into space with a rotary phone, a 12v car battery, and an old sattelite TV dish.

Believe or not, its something that has captured the imaginations of people all over the world for decades.

Lets discuss this, eh?

I won't comment on what Tiger did/is doing. I'm just explaining to you why it's a big deal for people who don't understand the sport.

You can disagree with me or what I say, but this is why it's a big deal to some people.

This is a big deal for golf because golf has always been portrayed as a genteel sport played by nobles and other distinguished people.

Famous golfers not only represent themselves, but they are also ambassadors for the sport and must carry themselves in a particular manner.

I know this is hard for non-golfers to understand, but this is not something I made up. Just ask anybody who plays golf well. Etiquette is a big deal. You can get penalties just for slight trashtalking or obscene gestures. This is not like any other sport.

The problem is your biggest star is supposed to embody "family" values. In this case there are people who expect Tiger to abstain from sex acts with anyone other than his wife.

So when Tiger strays from his expectation, there is a strong backlash from the golf community, and the media as well.

This is similar to somebody driving recklessly on the evening news and kill a dozen people. Some of us value safe driving. We get upset when people don't drive safely.

For the rest of the people, they value monogamy. So they get upset when you don't practise monogamy.

It's simple really.

Personally I don't and never did care much about what Tiger does. He's just a person. Golf is just a game. The only thing that matters is what he does with his money, like helping others or blowing it. Otherwise what he does has no effect on my personal life so he can do whatever he wants. It doesn't affect me either way.

It's not about sex, or infidelity, and people pretending that it is are fucking retarded.
Tiger has not even ALLEGEDLY broken any laws here, the only reason cops wanna talk to him about the accident is to create sensation. People fux around on their wives all the time, what we DON'T know is what kind of household they have, perhaps they have an "open relationship" where this kinda thing is not frowned upon, so longs as he comes home to his wife, kids and billions. I REFUSE to believe that his wife did not know about his philanderous behaviors before or even WHILE married to him, in fact I would sooner believe that she was once ONE of these girls. I also think that she is not stupid, she will stay and continue to rake her share of the billion or so he has trapped while she lets the nannies raise the kids, as opposed to leaving and getting "only" 20million and child support if she leaves.
You know what we DO know, though?
NOTHING!!!!
And that is what kills people, they feel like they DESERVE to know every detail about every situation. Does Tiger deserve to know the gory details about that time any of you fucked around on your wife? Exactly!

Jason Whitlock from FoxSports said it best so far:

Here's the truth behind the Tiger Woods scandal - Golf News - FOX Sports on MSN (http://msn.foxsports.com/golf/story/10505278/Here's-the-truth-behind-the-Tiger-Woods-scandal)

People acting as if Tiger owes them something like an explanation or something are a huge fucking joke too. He owes NOBODY an explanation of anything, considering no laws have been broken.

you know that thing on tv and movies that they do sometimes where a guy who wants to get out of a situation points to the air, yells "look! what's that?" and then runs?
Well the way Obama does it is instead of yelling "look! what's that?" he tells Tiger to cheat on his wife and then get caught and instead of running he sends 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan.
Classic bait and switch

personally i don't give a hoot about Tiger, nor his private life either.
i don't even follow golf.
it is interesting (if not also hilarious),
to see how ppl handle dilemmas such as this.

Technically it's none of our business,
but society is what it is.
when you are famous, get married, and considered some role model of sorts
(whether you intend to or not),
get into advertising contracts,
support charities, etc,
you are held to a likewise higher standard of scrutiny.
you are also responsible for far more than yourself.

as mentioned prior,
had he known he enjoyed living the bachelor's life, he should have stayed one.
yes, marriage (I suppose) is a good publicity stunt at the very least,
but that just backfires eventually if its not the lifestyle you lead.
nobodys ever made a serious fuss about Hugh Hefner.
he's pretty honest about the lifestyle he leads, and ppl (for the most part) appreciate that.

I don't watch tv, and nor have I heard much of this incident on radio.
If it's being bombarded non-stop in the media,
I could understand how it's annoying.

You get to pick what you read instead of being spoonfed.
