for the guys running no t-stat with oil coolers, what are your oil temps like?? im thinking of running one for next year. This year i didnt see my oil temps go above 200F (mostly stuck around 180F as did my coolant temps). the only reason i thinking of running one for 2010 is that i would like to do some time attack and autocross stuff.

That would be the worst Idea ever.

You WANT your oil temps to get above 212f. There was a tech bulletin that directly related engine wear to your coolant temps. Plus your engine control will be off if the coolant is not above 160*f. Do not run an oil cooler, you want your oil nice and hot. If your using a good oil like redline or amsoil then you will never see temps high enough to cause varnish or sludge -and that oil sure as hell wont break down.

I have nismo t-stat right now, which I may actually remove in favor of the OE tstat.

If your cooling system is up to par, you should never have an issue with overheating, no matter how hard you beat on it.

I really dont care about the people who jump in here to tell me wrong, but running without a T-stat could actually be worse for cooling if your running anything above 10% anti-freeze. There is no way the coolant can get to ambient temps when it spends no time in the radiator. With an OE tstat the coolant gets to ambient temp, and is cycled when needed.

i think OP is refering to a T-stat for the oil cooler. NOT for water.
there is a really good discussion on here about this very topic. lots of very good info. search for it.
