i heard when the blades contact the housing the turbo's FUCKIN DONE SON!

i guess compressor housing is still reusable but i'd definitely change the compressor

You can't really rebuild ball-bearing turbos.

You can't really rebuild ball-bearing turbos.

Yes you can. But it's not a DIY rebuild unless you have the right machinery.

Contact a place called "RH Engineering" they are the only place I know of that can rebuild ball bearing turbos. It's expensive, but will basically make it a brand new turbo as many things will get replaced, and everything will be remachined and balanced.

RH Engineering is in socal just a heads up.

yeah looking at the impeller blades, looks like at one time something got sucked in there..not good....

the burr/imperfections on the blades will probably create alot of turbulence and will create probably high pitched whistling...maybe this will fend off your enemies, but would piss me off personally..

i say file/sand down those imperfections to make it smooth again.

don't do anything to that part of the compressor housing, it was engineered to those dimensions for a reason.

All the work to take it off to have it run another 6 months.... Its not even worth your time... BB turbos are worth rebuilding when the who chra is about 600 bux.... Just get a new Center and then good as new... You might as well polish the turbo housing and port the waste port in the back for better response... But yeah just get a new chra.....

Not worth your time pulling it off and putting it back on especially when you can snap an exhaust stud.....

I agree! Scratches can just be from dirt that could have been sucked in previously but, if it blows just get a new one, they're all over this forum for like $150+ :)

its not burning oil or anything right? if not, i guess it should be fine.... but if its making loud ass noises id do what the people above said and get a new chra and balance it.

i just realized something, this turbo is ball bearing.....and it was run w/ no oil restrictor for ~10k miles, could this be the reason? bearings got fucked?

Definitely a major possibility. That's a lot of miles with no restrictor....seals are probably blown/blowing.

Well to tell you the truth, its white smoke so that is a water or coolant seal that has blown.... Restrictor is only on the oil side... Doesn't matter... its gone....

At least its not your motor..... Are you losing coolant?

Hey hey hey,

No one said anything about scam. You have to list your ebay listings correctly or the buyer can get his money back.

Yeah, its an HKS turbo, no return program, thats why I said get what you can for it on the open market, and buy a Garrett turbo.

Hey also, don't through away your turbine, cause then you are just buying the CHRA which you need the housing to assemble back. Otherwise its going to be like more money....

Also just a heads up did you see the nissanparts ad on here? They had new GT28R's for like 670 shipped... So up to you what you wanna do....

With out a restrictor you can get too much oil in there and the pressure will cause the balls in the bearing to flat spot and eventually fail. Too much pressure is just as bad as too little. Good luck and sorry to hear about it.

CHRA are like 70%+ of the entire turbo... THe housing aren't evn really worth anything.... Good luck

Let me know if you want to let it go and how much ?

Like everyone said its pretty much not rebuildable, I may have a use for it though.
