Has anyone here ever replaced a strut tower? Both towers in my car had some rust. I'm guessing that the drivers side can be patched, but the passengers side... well that's another story. Does anyone here have experience with replacing a strut tower? Would I be better off to just buy another 240 with a blown engine?? :(

choose option B
I have a friend whose dad is a body man and he said the first thing I need to do when i got my car was grease the hell out of the towers
and I did, and paintbrush and some heavy grease. He says when they rot your whose body is shot since they have to handle so much strain, unless its just surface rust, then grind and paint and grease
but if you said patch i dont think this is the case

well, there's a sort of plate that attatches to both the top of the body and the top of the tower itself. I've removed that on both sides to get rid of the rust. That's what needs to be replaced on the drivers side, the rest is in decent shape. The passenger's side will need to be replaced tho.
Instead of patching it up, you may consider sectioning a strut tower in from a donor car... :( That may not be a great idea either, since the Strut Tower does take a fair amount (I think) of stress... it's not something like the front apron or inner fender or anything 'cosmetic' like that.
I don't know mang... I'd say get rid of the rust first with a grinder and naval jelly, and consult a body shop. :( Good luck!

well as I said before, patching it up means actually replacing that plate with a very strongly welded piece. That side i'm sure will be fine. What I really want to know is if anyone's ever done this before and if it's even worth the trouble... If it is going to really cost me all that much it may be worth it for me to get another car with a blown engine and just transfer all my stuff into it.
I do have the front clip coming with my CA18DET, so I will already have donor towers to replace mine, as I said, I just don't know if it's worth it :(.
btw, I've used naval jelly and it didn't do anything, hahaha.
