Really I have friends stationed over there. and they can get s13s and some s14s for under a grand and good ones from 2 to 3 grand --- some even 4 door skylines sell for cheap. That car is priced around 2 to 3 times what it should be and then add another 2-3 grand to get it here. Not a very good deal IMO....but it is JDM and some kiddie American's parents pay premium for tha kewl JDM......
Really now? Because I usually see s15s go for sale around 8k-15k (IN JAPAN). 8k being a used and abused s15s.
Decent deal, but almost worthless posting on Zilvia.

I need to start buying cars from your "friends"... In the past 2 years I have bought over 170 cars in japan for dismantling and import.... actually i am in J-Land now loading 3 containers (34 cars) and I never saw prices you are describing....
Put us in touch with your "friends" or dont make retarted posts...
FYI I bought a 2001 Spec R Hit in the rear (hard) with 44k kms and I paid close to $8k USD.....

i really do not know what the fuss about the price is, its pretty straight forward,
12,000usd for an s15 spec-r and its low mileage, yes in japan you can get skylines, honda's, toyota's, ect.. for 2-3 grand but there not going to be in a very good condition, sometimes you can snatch a deal because insurance gets so high in japan, that people usually (statistically) change their car every year, and i lived in london so s-chassis in the UK pretty much goes two ways: either there imported with huge taxes, customs fees, and MOT, or they were bought from nissan in the UK, one thing i do not know is importing a jdm car to the states, because when i was going to import a jdm car to the UK, shiiiittttttt, so many fee's and regulations, for ex: all cars being imported have to have a "EURO 3" motor, adding to this, depending on how much the car cost, you have to pay a percentage to customs which is never worth it, and then try getting it insured in London, i was doing some research and i found out that insuring a honda [EK9] si-r, costs 2,500 pounds a year, which is about 4,000usd, and then they told me i could not get insured because i was 18, and that the car was a "sport model", its just not worth it, i could imagine insuring a brand new BMW, thats why in london aston martins are usually the common daily driver, lol...i wanted a 240 when i was there and no way could i get insured, so thought a honda will be cheap, but didnt turn out that way, so in conclusion, owning a car in the states is the cheapest also parts and matinence is cheap, hope i helped and for further info google importing a car to the UK or USA, and check out the customs and importing websites, they always update it with more rules and regulations, anyway GLWS and this s-15r is well worth it with all the mods and its in very good condition :)

importing a car into the us if it goes through customs and the proper way it is 5 grand -- to do it the blackmarket way and title it in your state as a kit car is a lot cheaper..... can be done for 2-3 grand with title clean and clear as kit or offroad use....
DaveTezza
11-25-2009, 03:22 PM
^^
oh i see, i didnt know that there are 2-ways, does the U.S. customs also take a percentage of whatever the total price is of the car?

i agree, ebay cars vs. a car that was taken care off by a car enthusiast have nothing to do with eachother...

Dude, where do you get your info from???? Show me some contact info of where I can have one brought in legally for $5k and ill buy you one! Event the ugly one on eBay UK with 20's..... Hopefully it has a neon undercar kit so it meets your approval.... lol
S15 is not on the List of eligible vehicles for importation. Therefore, it connot be done LEGALLY. People do it, but it isnt legal.
Actually none of the cars we have interest in are legal from Japan, and anyone who has one, hat to import it as parts, putit back together and do some shady shit with the title.
WHen it is imported as parts, it is not legal to be a motor vehicle....
