So I don't feel like this should be this hard, but here we go. I bought a universal transmission cooler with the intention of installing it as a power steering cooler. I purchased the unit bellow.

Flex-a-lite 3818 - Flex-a-lite TransLife Transmission Coolers - Overview - SummitRacing.com (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLX-3818/)

I went to fit it and low and behold the inlets on the cooler are 3/8 and the PS line is 1/2.

I need either an adapter or something to make this work. I've been searching for about 2 solid hours with nothing providing a great solution. Anyone have any insight as to why I'm failing so hard? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

go to a plumbing store and get a fitting for 1/2"-3/8", im sure they sell some brass fittings..

Like that but not plastic lol...

You should be able to purchase the appropriate adapter like Ceepo showed from a Home Depot, Lowes or any other place that sells plumbing supplies. I bought a similar adapter not too long ago for my tranny cooler.

You guys may have found the solution, but what I'm wondering, is, are there any negative effects to bottle necking the return by 1/8th"? Of course that would mean that overrall flow through your system would be constricted a little bit.
If results are fine with no ill effects from the OP, then I plan on adding a P/S cooler.

Only positive. I ended up getting a slightly more pliable type of hose from kragen and it fit on both ends. After one track day my power steering didn't fade after 2 laps as usual, and far less spewing all over my engine bay. A total of like $30 for the whole project and totally worth it.

I just installed one on my car.

The weird thing is I was almost certain the stock lines and what was needed for my aftermarket cooler was all 3/8ths?

Ok, so you're saying that you bought a more pliable 3/8th" hose, right?

yea slightly, it was a pain in the ass, but it worked. I took it to Buttonwillow and drove all day with no problems. do it.

edit: ill go take some pics of my install later
