Hey guys so my wife is due in a few weeks, but almost went into labor early late last night. The doctor moved up our date to this sunday and is going to have to perform a C-section due to complications during our first pregnancy. Any dads(or moms) on here with personal experience with c-section deliveries. How bad is the recovery? Is it a very painful experience for them?

All things aside, i'm happy for you man.

You and the wife will be the happiest folks alive. Bringing a kid into the world is a huge blessing.

I wish i had a kid. I'd get him into motorsports asap.

+1 for recaro baby seats.

Damn I miss raretrick.com

oh but congrats on the baby, with todays technology she shouldnt have anymore trouble with a C-section than she would with a breach birth. but good luck either way. Best wishes for your new fam bam.

Ha Ha we allready have a 4 year old son which is highly into cars allready. Definately getting a go kart before a bike if you know what I mean! The future child is going to be a girl! Which i am still undecided about hahahahahahahah (ahhhh my old MAN WHORING DAYS) but I will definately love her with all of my heart!!! Funny thing is my sons 4th birthday was literally just on the 15th of November, they are going to be a week apart!!!

my daughter was delivered via c-section...as far as your wife, she should be fine...seeing as how its such a common operation, she will be under anesthesia. basically its painful for her to move at first

they wont let her leave the hospital until she can walk and go poop (sounds weird, but thats what they told my ex), and she has to be careful to not move too much so that the stitches dont open up. my ex fully recovered after about a week and 1/2.

good luck and congrats!

well, i don't have any kids but i was a c-section baby and so were my two younger siblings who followed.

the reason i had to be cut outta my mom was because i was to come out ass first (breach delivery) but then the cord was wrapped around my neck and the dr suggested my mom undergo the cesarean section.

like duff said, it's a fairly routine procedure nowadays. let's hope your wife is not prone to keloidal scarring like my mom was. she still bears the scars from all three of us children.

EDIT: CONGRATS BTW!

I do C-sections quite frequently so here is what you can expect:
If this is her first C/S, she will most likely have a spinal or a combined spinal and epidural (CSE). It will be placed in the OR just before the C/S and will make your wife numb pretty much from the nipple line down.
After the spinal is placed, she may get nauseous and vomit. THIS IS RELATIVELY NORMAL so don't freak out.
After the baby is delivered, your wife may start to tremble and shake. Again, this is NORMAL and is due to the surge of hormones after the placenta is delivered.
MAKE SURE YOU BRING A GOOD DIGITAL CAMERA!!! I can't tell you how many times broke-ass fathers bring a fuckin' disposable camera to the birth of their child and it pisses me off.
If you are nice to the Anesthesiologist, he/she will be happy to take photos of you, your wife, and the new baby together but please ASK first!
If you are squeamish, please let everyone in the room know before you start to feel ill once things get underway. It's not cool if you pass out on the floor while it's your wife who's having the operation :)
Finally, try your best to enjoy this spectacular day!

From talking to a lot of women whom have many kids, they actually preferred c-section. They are really common dude.

WOW thanks for the awesome and correct info.

Reguarding the cars bed, for my son we moved him from a toddler bed right to a full size platform bed. He uses cars sheets how ever...

yeah dude...c section is no problem. coolest part...is seeing them pull the baby out of your wife while she is still awake! and then seeing two dudes...like...put her back together. Pretty interesting stuff. Nothing to worry about though. My wife was the 4th C-section that night.

Haha, you asses! Just because I make a decent living doesn't mean I've forgotten how to be a cheap bastard 240sx owner :fawk: As for what I'm currently driving, I live in the city where parallel parking is a full-contact sport and my condo doesn't have a garage. I'm pushing a plain old Maxima and I love it. Shit gets beat down and I just don't care anymore. I spend my cash on shit that matters nowadays...not 16 year old shit boxes. I have been building a hatch SLOWLY over the past 7 years (yes SEVEN YEARS). I am in no rush...I do it because I enjoy it, not because I'm facing a deadline or need it to get around like some folks. I'm working on cosmetics now that the rb25 swap is done and runs like factory.

/end threadjack

To the OP, don't sweat it. I've done 8 sections in one 24 hour period. It's really pretty routine.

C-section sucks ass! My wife had one, I had never wished that I was the one in pain so much as watching her stand up for the first time after surgery. I swear I could feel it too.

Try not to look as they pull out her internal organs and you should be cool. She wont feel a thing during but may have trouble walking etc for like a week. Congrats!! My son just turned a month on wednesday, cant wait till hes big enough for the recaro seat
