Horrible outcome, 2 19-year old teens dead because of this dumbass cop. Me being almost 20 I just think about what if that was me and a girlfriend.
There seems to be a trend in really dumb police officers lately. Although this crash was on June 13, the video was just released from the other officers cruiser.
ORANGE, Conn. (Nov. 18) - An arrest affidavit says a Milford police officer charged with manslaughter for a car crash that killed two teenagers was driving 94 miles per hour and was not on an emergency call.
State police earlier this month charged Jason Anderson with two counts of second-degree manslaughter and one count of reckless driving. He was released on $250,000 bond. Anderson, who has been suspended with pay, is due to be arraigned Nov. 24.
Full story:
Milford Connecticut Police Officer Jason Anderson Charged in Fatal Crash (http://news.aol.com/article/milford-connecticut-police-officer-jason/773587?icid=main|aim|dl1|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fnews.a ol.com%2Farticle%2Fmilford-connecticut-police-officer-jason%2F773587)
It's not confirmed they were street racing, but only "speculation" there may have been street racing between the two officers. But we all know, chances are they were racing.

Damn it sucks that you have to hear more stories like this. When I was in high school a kid who went there was killed pretty much the same way. The cop was going 68 in a 35 with no lights on and slammed into the side of his car. The cop was speeding to take a ticket book to another officer who had run out.
The cop was "fired" but it turns out he really just got transferred to the next town over.
I think that if they aren't going to an emergency or don't have there lights on they should be punished just as much or if not more than any of us would be if we had done the same thing.

bad news :(
I see cops all the time flying by without their lights/sirens on, actually came very close to being hit by one goin at least 90 while I was crossing the highway one step further and i would have been done.
also drives me crazy when they turn on their lights to go through red lights then turn them off after the intersection. sorry for getting off topic, this really is very unfortunate story

From a standpoint of alot of family and friends in law enforcment,Rescue and the Fire dept., i have 3 police/fire/resuce radio's throughout my house. and they are on constantly 24-7-365. I know i hear atleast 5 times aday for a call that the person on the phone "requests no light and siren" but the cops/fire/rescue still need to get there as fast as they can. some people don't want/need the attention that comes with multiple loud cars pulling into there house.
Other time's i know going to some calls, Police won't use there light or siren for fear of whoever there going after getting away. I go to work with my brother who is a Srgt. on the police dept. here. and I've asked him a few times why we aren't using them. and he said that. One night there was a domestic disput, and he didn't want the people leaving so he got there as quickly as he could without them knowing they were coming, same for breaking and entering/bar fights/thefts/etc. element of suprise. Alot of times if a cop is going to one of those calls they will flash the lights going through/coming up to intersections just to "clear" them of traffic.
but like i stated, this act wasen't at all justified.

THIS!
I just wish Law Enforcement people didn't always feel they were above the law.
Not many people have jobs that put them in potential life ending situations everyday. Police offers, however, are in this profession. They risk their life every single day for the general population, yet people seem to piss and shit all over their name at any chance. I think they DO have the right to feel "above the law" with certain things and at certain times.
I guess it's just the fact that a lot of people (especially in this little "car world" we participate in) hold personal grudges against police. It makes sense if you take the time to think about it.
Anyways, it's tragic that innocent people died for what seems to be no reason.

A lot of times the police department have rules regarding the use of lights/sirens. Around here in CA, for most police/sheriff departments, to go code 3 (lights/sirens) the officer/deputy has to get authorization.
From what I know, there can only be an X amout of cars going code 3 at the same time in the city (area). Say there was a call out. 5 cars responding and 2 out of the 5 has code 3 authorization. The 3 cars responding w/o lights and sirens will still have to get there as fast as possible, esp. if its an emergency ... which would explain why cops sometimes speed and flip on their lights to go pass a red. Often times officers forgets that people don't see them as cearly as they would if lights/sirens were on.
^ I dont kno about other states, but its true for police departments in CA.
So don't be so quick to judge... If he was infact driving like an idot, i feel he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law and all of his money should go to the family of the victims.. but if he was legitimately responding to an emergency then its just one of those horrible accidents that can happen sometimes and its really unfortunate that it did happen. My heart goes out to the families of the victims.

i think it's dangerous not having the flashing lights/sirens going off. i almost got knocked last night because of that actually. i had the right of way making a left turn and then last minute all of a sudden, he decides to turn on his sirens/lights coming straight at me. keep in mind this was about 11pm at night.
flick - element of surprise, i can understand that to an extent. but really, if anybody hears a car flying down the street at 70 mph in a quiet residential local zone, i'm pretty sure with lights or without, they'll get suspicious or look that direction, and whey they see its a cruiser, they getaway.

I don't hate all cops...I've never really had any problems with them (my good friends dad is the chief for my area) so I've heard a bunch of stories first hand. They do have to deal with a TON of shit on the daily, more then a lot of people would know. But the thing is, most take the daily bull as that's their job and responsibility! A small minority can make it bad for a majority but that could be said for any type of group.

wow. So you're the resident crooked cop apologist...
yes, it's the kid's fault for making the left as opposed to the cop going 80+ on a 45mph road.
45mph = 66 feet per second.
90mph= 132 feet per second.
If I see a car 400 feet before me, assuming that most cars are +-5mph within the speed limit, it would give me roughly 6 seconds to make that left turn. MORE than enough time.
But if officer dick face is doing 90mph, I see some lights 400 feet away, which I'd again judge to be safe, assuming that no one is stupid enough to be doing double the posted speed limit, I'd take the turn...except this time, I'd only have 3 seconds to make that left.
So your blaming the kids for assuming the cop is a responsible citizen as opposed to blaming the cop for being an asshat that treats a 45mph street like the autobahn?
and it wasn't even a half assed assumption given that it was a 19 year old kid. If the cop was going the speed limit, it would have doubled the time to turn for the kids. They'd still be here today.

Have fun in fantasy land.
I'm in the real world, let me know when you get here.
A police officer is allowed to shoot a person in given situations.
They are allowed to allowed to speed.
Allowed to pull people over.
Allowed to arrest people.
etc.
Are we allowed to do that? No.
The answer is no.
So I guess in your Fantasy World, A police officer would never be allowed to fire a weapon at somebody, and if they DID, they would go right to jail for it.

The things you have listed aren't "above the law", those are privileges that are written into law to help peace officers enforce said law.
Above the law is having a "blue shield". Having your buddy that witnessed you speeding 2x the speed limit in the other patrol car abstruct justice by not reporting the truth behind the incident and instead blaming a couple of innocent kids for their own deaths.

Looks like they were fired:
Milford, Connecticut Cop Fired After Deadly Crash - Law Enforcement - Jalopnik (http://jalopnik.com/5427847/milford-connecticut-cop-fired-after-deadly-crash)
I am still not calling justice served until criminal charges are brought to them. If something this egregious was worth firing someone in a position where "suspended with pay" is the usual punishment for anything, then surely there is something charge-worthy as well.
