Do a compression test.
Check for Vac/Boost leaks

make sure the CEL potentiometer on the ECU (Screw) is fully CCW be gental it can be easily broken.
Also check for codes while your at it. If you dont know Read the FSM

you may also have a slight leak in you injectors causing you to smoke.

Valve stem seals. It only does this the "first time" as in cold? If thats the case, its probably valve stem seals, PERHAPS a leaky CHRA, but if it only does it when cold, I'm leaning towards valve train issues. My Z does the same thing, until it gets warm, it will burn a touch of oil. If I put the engine under load when cold, it smokes. Once it warms up it will only puff a touch of blue smoke (oil) when the manifold enters positive pressure the first time of the day, after that...fine.
