View Full Version : Question regarding fitment of JDM s14 Kouki wing on s13 coupe.

Just as title states. There is a local guy here in town selling a JDM s14 Kouki wing. A few people stated that the wing looks great on a s13 coupe and also shared a few pictures. From what I can tell in the pictures it does look good on the s13 coupe, but how is fitment? Its hard to tell from the distance the photos were taken. I'm interested in purchasing this wing for my s13 coupe, but don't want to waste the money if the fitment is bad.Thanks... http://www.versionselect.com/images/crab5.jpg

Buy it. If you don't like it, sell it. Done.

I'd rather not. Im already sitting on a wing that cost me a couple hundred $$ that I cant sell. (On my car now.) I dont need another.... ;)
Edit: Make that 2. *LOL* Wife just reminded me about the EVO wing that is sitting in the spare room.... Oops.

The mounts are flat so you should be able to mount it just fine. Just drill some holes.

looks like it fits fine to me.
just ask the guy if you can try it on, and complain that it does not fit good when it does and ask for discount.

Maybe I should not have said "Here in town" He is about 40-50 miles away. I will probably go and check it out. The reason I would like to know before hand is the body shop already has my wingless trunk to get painted. If I knew for sure that fitment would be fine, I would just buy it and drop it off and have it painted. Wife is a little pissed at me for buying parts that aren't getting used, such as my Greddy gauges x5 (Went with AEM.) and a Blitz SBC i-Color. (Also went with AEM.) Bought them but changed my mind about using them and cant sell them. (At a reasonable price.) oh yea, a $4000.00 MINI Cooper twin charge kit that is BNIB that never got installed because I traded the car in on a STi before I had the chance to install the kit....Anybody want to buy the kit? Comes with a GT3071R turbo... ;)

Do it. It is pretty much the best wing you can put on a coupe.

That or GT-1 wing.

You do realize that its not a bolt on affair right? You keep asking if it will fit bad...itll only fit bad if you fuck up the mounting holes. How do you fuck up the mounting holes? Because you dont have them and you'd have to drill them.
JDMbyBlood
11-11-2009, 01:50 AM
Yes I know that...... Not worried about drilling holes. I just dont want gaps that look like crap. The wing is made for a s14, not a s13 and just worried about fitment.
JDMbyBlood
11-11-2009, 01:53 AM
The only reason for wanting a wing is the car looks bottom heavy after installing a complete Chargespeed body kit on the car. I still may go wingless. (The reason the body shop has the wingless trunk.)

I already told you...
The mounts on the wing are FLAT. The S13 coupe trunk is FLAT. Just make sure you line it up right and drill the holes. There wont be gaps if you do it right.

I LOVE mine (I'll post pix later, on my iPhone right now). Itwasnt straight bol on because mine was a fiberglass aftermarket one and the mounts weren't perfectly flat so it took some "persuasion" to get right. I spent 3-4 hours measuring and drilling to get it all right but I really dig the styling of it.

thats just too much mixed together. the only thing that looks good is the wing. reg silvia conversion or onevia and some not 350z wheels would look fine.

This is SO not fair!!!! When I was a newb on Zilvia, I asked an exact same question and this is the first response I got.
"maybe? who cares. bolt it onto your trunk. what a stupid question."
http://zilvia.net/f/chat/120274-s14-kouki-wing-s13.html
But, you got some helpful responses instead. Anyway, I'll post some good info for you soon. I'm about to pick up this spoiler and a wingless trunk from a bodyshop tomorrow.
http://gt-1.com/pict/exterior/s13rear.jpg
I'll mount them over this weekend and post info here. It's a direct fit on s13 trunk and mounted by 4 brackets and double sided tape. If I don't like it, I'll remove it and put D-Max lip spoiler. We will see. Here's the teaser pic of GT-1 spoiler. As far as I know, there are 3 aftermarket spoilers for s13 coupe. Kazama(out of production), K-Style(ran out of business) and GT-1. Out of three, GT-1 is the best.
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p112/sxj6151/NICO2/IMG_8227.jpg
EDIT: Found a picture of K-Style spoiler. I know the spoiler is from K-Style because in their ad, pictures of this car were there. It was about 50,000 yen back in 2006. Kazama was about 40,000 yen. GT-1 is about 30,000 yen. I started looking into s14 kouki style wing because of this picture.

R32 spoiler is another option, but it's not easy to pull off. You gotta have a decent bodykit to make it look good. I've seen it on two s13 coupes without bodykit in person and the spoiler looks too big and bulky. It looks really good on this s13 though.

Where did you order the gt1 wing from?
I have seen a couple pictures online of people getting a gap like this
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b342/wawazat8402/IMG00135.jpg
Some people are saying the mounts for the jdm s14 kouki wing are flat but the s14 trunk has a slight curve to it. I know that the mounts on a usdm s14 wing have a slight curve to them.

Now that I have the wing, I need a body man to give me some suggestions on how to mount the wing. I really don't want to mold the wing to the trunk. The ends are FAR from being flat as I was informed. If anybody has any suggestions, please suggest away.......Thanks for posting up the pics guys.....

You can make bottom inserts like Kazama wing has. I'll post up pics soon. Or you can fill the gap with fiberglass or something.

Where'd you get it? Was it new or used?
I got mine brand new and it was flat. It only curved to the s14 trunk once i started torquing it down.
JDMbyBlood
11-12-2009, 03:50 PM
Bought it used. The guy I bought it from had a s14 and you can see how the trunk on a s14 is not flat and you can see how the wing would curve with the trunk.

Here you go. This might be the only one Kazama spoiler in the U.S. I was going to install this one, but later GT-1 spoiler showed up which I don't have to drill holes.
This is a fairly good looking spoiler. Kazama should have made just the inserts, so people can install s14 kouki spoiler on s13 coupe easily.

Hard to use that as anything to measure from, the body and paintwork on that car are clearly absolute shit. The closeup picture shows a ton of bondo on the decklid. That also is definitely a fiberglass copy of the OE wing, so it's going to fit like shit anyway.
From what I've seen through other pictures and examples, torquing the hardware correctly will help pull the gaps out without doing a lot of extra work. If it's truly an OE spoiler you can even cut the holes required to use the OE clips which will add extra support.

when are you going to post up those pictures man. i've been patiently waiting all week to see how the gt-1 wing looks.
How does the gt-1 wing mount on with just brackets and double sided tape w/o holes being drilled? is that safe/secure?

I'm having hard time with a bodyshop. I went one of the best in town and they can't make the wavy surface perfectly flat on the wing. It's where Ferrari dealership goes, but... I'm not happy with the paint on the wingless trunk either. Anyway, I'll post pictures of brackets, so at least you can get the idea.

I doubt its the wing. If body shops can make supra brake lights and kouki s14 headlights fit on a civic; they can do anything.
If you went to a shop that works on Ferrari dealership cars... thats where you went wrong. They can paint a ferrari bumper paid for by insurance/rich dude and get paid 2-3k for one bumper, why would they even work on your wing?

Here are the hardwares. Spoiler will go on to the trunk with doubled sided tape and trunk and slot at the bottom of spoiler will be sandiwiched between the bracket. In the above picture of blue s13, you can kinda see these brackets.
It's not just Ferraris. They are certified Audi repair shop and restore all sorts of old cars. A manager guaranteed factory like finish. I think I fell for his BS. Anyway, it'll be done in a couple of weeks since I'm taking them to different bodyshop. If I don't like it, I'll remove it and put D-Max lip spoiler. thanks for taking the pictures. how is the gt-1 wing compared to the s14 wing. i know they are similar, but is one larger than the other, more aggressive/flared more, etc?
is the base of the wing like the oem s14 wing/kazama wing and triangulated shape or thinner since it uses brackets? the brackets look like ok support, but not really sturdy. I'm sure it'll hold fine and the double sided tape will keep it from moving back and fourth, but it seems as if some punk kid were to push and pull on it, it would move back and fourth.

No problem. Kazama spoiler is taller than GT-1, and it looks very close to s14 kouki wing minus the risers. GT-1 spoiler is pretty close to R32 GT-R spoiler, but less bulky.

This spoiler is not recommended if you don't have anything on your rear bumper. You need agressive looking aftermarket bumper or some nice rear valances like Bomex. My OEM valances look weak.
