im about to pick up another s13 sunday. i havent seen it yet, but my friend who told me about described it. it has some minor front end damage, which is fine because i have extra body panels, but he said when he looked under the hood, most of the the hoses werent connected to anything. its a '91 and it runs and drives, but could this cause a serious problem, i plan on fixing it as soon as i get it, but would this have already caused problems?
thanks a lot, matt, its only a 100 too, so im stoked

$100? If it's $100, you should be happy it runs to begin with.

i was just wondering if any detrimental engine problems could be caused by random non hooked up hoses

Depends what kind of hoses they are. If they're coolant hoses, then yes, you could have some "detrimental" problems (warped head, damaged cyl., lost compression, etc). If they're just vacuum hoses, then you're looking at bad idle, possibly some loss of power depending on where they are. BUT, Again, if this car only costs $100, you should take it and run.
