Speedventures Friday events are the best!
Towards the end of the day there's usually hardly any traffic at all.
At one of the better sessions, I shared a track with 1 other Mini-Cooper than had very similar times.
1:36 is actually great, esp if it's your first time out on that track.
First timers get pretty intimitaded by the chicanes & other corners.
It's my 2nd fav track afer Buttonwillow, b/c it's so technical.
I like it b/c I do well without having the need to have lots of power.
My best time so far is 1:30:9x CCW config.
This was on my 08 evo w/ dunlop z1's & ferodo 2500 pads.
otherwise stock.
I ran 1:36:xx CW config on a 95 civic hb, some 4 yrs ago.
came w/ an untuned lsvtec, helical lsd, & some suspension goodies w/out alignment, & hawk hp+ pads.
I blew the engine, but I felt I could have refined the times considerably w/ practice & tuning of the suspension.
92 Miata hardtop CW config, I ran around 1:37:xx some 10 yrs ago
Car had 205/50 Kumho MX tires and hawk hp+ pads
I'd love to take my S14 there.
so far I'm just comfy doing autoX with it.
The 240 is so far the least forgiving & most twitchy car I've ever driven.

i was driving the white coupe, running low 1:34's first time at the track. We ran street backwards using the skid pad, everything felt great besides all the mad understeer!!!
where you the white coupe?

thats how motors are supposed to last. I have put my motor through 14 2-day track events (2000 hard track miles)since mid last year when i did my rebuild. It is still going strong.

that was a great time! how was the temperature that day? I ran a 1:36.502 last time when it was 105 degrees outside while overheating all day on my stock dohc KA24.

I ran a 1:32.2 last june or july with speedtrials and it was crazy hot.

I missed the time attack last year and am going to miss it again this year. I am confident that I can run well into the 1:20's once I get the car back together though, on street tires... My first time ever at any real track event was at SOW clockwise and I ran a 1:34.2 that day in my s-13.

I would really like to dice around with you at streets one day, if i can keep up lol. i was running derriza star spec in the rear 245/40/17, amazing tires and some 225/45/17 avon slicks that were just junk with all the oversteer. After 3 or 4 laps. looking to get the car out a few more times before i get into the miata spec racing.

wasn't to bad actually, i didn't actually see what the temp was outside, but it wasn't stupid hot. I like going to events this time of year because it's so much cooler out there.

alright I'm going to shoot for 1:34s next time I go, seems like an attainable goal for me.

I'm running the same sizes with star specs on all 4, and I must agree, these tires are awesome, I like them more than 615s

i ran my first time @ SoW during summer CCW. Only managed about a 1:41, so you are doing great! I have modifications up the yin-yang, hahaha. My car should easily be in the very low 1:30's - the driver just needs to get used to fast courses.
I didn't have the balls to go all out on the 2 big sweepers & was taking it easy that day. Of course, I'd like to blame it on my off course excursion the week or two before at a time trial event that scared the be-jebus out of me.
I'm coming back to SoW next month for a CW day.

My best with my black S13 is a 1:28.9. At the time it was on yoko slicks. Stock SR with just bolt ons, cams & boost up(T28),suspension ,chassis striped. In my opinion the areas to gain big time CW ,are the kink after the front straight. Im almost flat through there 85-90% throttle in 4th on slicks,( my goal is to be flat through there) on street tires its a no go. Also the section after the chicane I stretch 2nd all the way through there I see lots of folks going to 3rd & you loose revs & the last corner leading to the straight, I see so many people pinching off that corner .What you want to do is try not to bind up the car because you pinched the corner,& try to apply / keep constant throttle & let the car be free dont create excess scrubb or lift becaue you need to get a good clean run onto the straight.
The bowl is a giveaway just try not to overslow. It is more important to settle the car pick your line & get a good run out because that leeds to a straight.
Now the sweeper that leeds to the bowl Im shifting to 3rd just a little bit before the bump & wind out 3rd allll the way through. If done correct you should be at the top of 3rd just as you can begin to see the bowl.
Tire size was 260 front & 280-650-18
I Hope this makes sense & can help someone go faster!!!!!!
