I DID search, however found no helpful information....
So the other day I went to the gas station and used the lever to open the gas door and nothing.
I had to open my trunk and reach through the trunk lining to open the gas door.
What would cause the gas door to not open, and how do I go about fixing it?

Seen this on a few cars
the plastic retainer could be old/brittle/busted
or
the rubber sheath on the line could have broken
this is the case on my daily at the moment
would need to replace the line and I've just been to lazy/don't care enough to do it.

Can you still open the trunk from via the lever? If you can, then the plastic piece holding the popper may have broke off. If you cant, then the cable is snapped, time to replace it.

I can open my trunk with the lever but not the gas latch
and I've looked at the cable and it is broken
guess it depends on where the break is

Yeah, I can still open the truck with the lever, but not the gas door.
I'll look into it here soon. I plan on stripping the car down to get ready for body work

Check the small tab that pops the door out. Have someone hold the release and use something flat to see if you can lift the door out.
If that piece is broken the door will never pop out when you release the latch.
