As some of you already know, a few others and myself a planning a cross-country rally geared toward the import community. The specifics of this event are still being ironed out, as you could guess this is a huge undertaking- even for experienced event coordinators. While the actual event is some time away from happening, the route that has been decided upon needs to be tested and the locations scouted.
Guess who gets to do it?
Since I have to run this route beforehand, I thought it would be fun to get a few willing guys to run as well, to
a) Have some fun
b) Set the bar for the actual event and
c) Try to beat us.

We will be running it in a very -capable- turbo ka S14.

The reason for this post is to call on anyone who would be interested in running with/against us. We are only interested in inviting people who have a certain maturity level, and naturally, the car running has to be able to handle it- i.e., no kids in civics with just a fart can on the back tearing through busy intersections, because he’s in a “race”.
Please understand that there will be a light application/invitation process.

The pre run will leave on a Friday afternoon, from Balboa Park in San Diego, and run in a loop across half the country in 1 weekend, hitting parts of Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada along the way. The rally should conclude back in San Diego, late Sunday or Monday morning. It’s a lot of driving. Fast driving. It’s not going to be easy, but it will be fun.

Since this is a pre-run, and not the actual event- it’s free to do, and you will be responsible for everything along the way. The only prize is having done it, maybe came in first, major discounts in the actual event, seeing if your beloved car is as great as you think, and the crazy stories you and your co-pilot will be able to tell. However, I might spring for a round of drinks in Vegas…
If you ask what’s the point to this, you probably aren’t the people we are looking for.

If you are interested, please email me at [email protected] with any questions or for specifics. I will be happy to talk with anyone and spend time explaining or taking suggestions.

By the way, for the pre run, all types of cars are invited, not just 240’s. The actual event will be limited to just imports, however. Tell your friends.
