Well, I bought a 1990 SE fastback in march when there was snow still here in chicago, and I was young and excited. I was lucky enough to have gotten a 240sx, and my parents more grateful to buy it for me as my first car. Before we bought it, we took it for a checkup, mechanic said it was in great condition except for a small rust in the frame, everything else was fine. So I got the car the next day.

I had a bomz gt-spec style exhaust installed over the weekend with 2.25 inch piping, and bought a new head unit a couple days after. The car ran fine, no problems. Then I started to notice the exhaust was getting louder and louder. My friends were telling me that my car was polluting and stinking badly, so I got a new o2 sensor. The smoke and stink was gettin worse and worse, so I decided not to drive it until i got the money to fix it. I left my car at a friends for a couple days, and with the luck i have, a thunderstorm left a big branch on my car.

I also got a flat tire for no apparent reason so today, we were trying to put in my donut. My friend who is a certified mechanic put the jack underneath the car, and started to raise the car. As he was raising the car, there was so much rust falling down, and he said he cant raise it anymore cause the chasis will cave in. So we picked a new spot, barely raised it and switched into a donut really quick. 4 other friends were around helping/chilling. Everyone was telling me to sell my car.

I started the car to show the certified mechanic my pollution/stink problem, when i started my car, everybody took a few steps back cause the smoke and stink was so bad. Rite away, he told me that either my head gasket had blown, or i need to replace my injectors. I had used the stp fuel injector cleaner and it didnt work.

Well, either one is gonna end up costing me a couple hundred. Even if I fix that, theres no way to fix my mild rust problem. So after some talk with friends and family, I decided to sell my car and get a S14 a couple months from now. If anybody is interested in buying my car, I will have it in the for sale section.

I'll still visit the boards frequently, and i'll be back with a S14 in no time! BTW, ill still goto the 240 meets, my 2 other friends both have fastbacks =]. Thx for reading and comments/opinions always welcome.

I know how you feel man. I bought the car and it gives me lots of troubles :(

The first month I got it I needed a rebuild at 83,000 miles. I had it done for 1500. When I could have got a sr i needed transportation but oh well. Then minor stuff like my exaust needed to be redone......and minor little things.......

Just hang in there.......i am going for a s14.

hahaha

yes 240s are just little cuties, aren't they?

paid a grand and I've...
* blown 3 shocks (stock poopers, just replaced with agx)
* bondoed countless panels (it had been wrecked a bit)
* installed new sunroof
*new clutch
*fixed seats
*fixed stereo (new stereo, stock headunit/speakers were total crap
*new control arms
*new ball joints
*new t/c bushings
*new tie rod ends
* new tires
*new brake pads
*exhaust manifold gasket
*dist cap, rotor
*plugs, plug wires
*ignition coil
*horns
*exhaust
*head lights (twice, 2nd with H4 conversion)
and then for my enjoyment I put a sub and system in and I put lowering springs on
mine is all rusty too, but I just take it as it comes. I've only had it a year and put at least two or three times what I've paid for it into it.
I'm also putting a VLSD and probably a ca18det this fall.

BUT any time you buy a used car, specially one with as many years/ miles on it as the S13's usually do, and you are gonna have the same ****.
and I can't think of any car I'd rather have for the money I have in mine, nothing else is as sporty looking, fun to drive, and economical.

Don't most new exhaust systems stink for a while untill you break them in?

Bummer 'bout the car otherwise. . .
