Anyone can import them, no one can legalize them (well and hope to ever break even on the cost).

www.night7racing.com sells them. you dont need to legalize, get it registered as a custom car. you'll have to make all the vin numbers disappear though :)

Motorex = Skylines only. :rolleyes:

someone didnt do their homework. MOTORex does sell skylines... but they also have silvias/180sx. they are known for bringing over the skylines. but yes they do have silvia's. and yes they do have a S15 silvia spec R. so yah go to torrance or wherever in the 310 they're located and ask to see the silvias. way cheaper than the skylines. so there!

mixedwell ;)

i'm pretty sure the sils aren't legal even if they did carry them, so what's the point? and for the money they would charge for them, you could build the equivolent or better for less

The question was if they imported silvias. If they go through motorex, they are perfectly legal. And if he asked to buy a silvia, I'd hope he'd already have some ballpark estimate. Be original, import em.

the US no longer accepts right hand drive cars as "substantially similar" which means you can't say "look guys, its a 240sx" (or an impreza (wrx) or a 300zx (fairlady) etc).

I've no doubt that a careful (and creative) interpretation of the law and some phone calls to the right people and you could legalize a car like the 180sx or s13/s14 silvia, since its basically identical to the 240sx.

but I'm not saying it would be easy, and it might be expensive.

however, the s15 poses the problem that, like the skyline, its not substantially similar to anything ever sold here.

I don't see how any company importing them is going to get around that.
