Hey guys, so my KA24DE finally blown and it's now time for me to consider a SR swap for my s13 :(...
I've been looking for a simple SR setup now and I have a few questions hope some of you SR guru can give me some idea :)
I did a few searches of cuz, but couldn't really find the right answer, so hopefully I won't get flame by starting this thread.
1. I am trying to use the stock SR downpipe to meet with the stock cat and exhaust on my s13, will they bolt up fine? I've heard out cat is a bit shorter than the SR cat, will that causing any fitment problem?
2. What's the benefit for switching to z32 mafs? Is that because the SR mafs will max out around 250hp or just because the z32 mafs is easier to find?
3. Will FMIC increase a lot of lag if I only want to run stock turbo and stock boost without getting a tune? Is SMIC more ideal for a stock SR setup?
Thank you very much!

Search better... but it's late and I'm bored.
1) Yes. Same catbacks fit both cars, downpipes are 100% compatible.
2) Yes. There are other MAFS out there, but the Z32 is the biggest/most popular, and supports ~500hp.
3) No. No real difference ~ the only part that makes a difference in lag on the t25 is a 3" elbow, in my experience.

1. if by stock downpipe you mean elbow yes it will bolt up, if you mean downpipe yes it will bolt up but i dought u'll get one with your swap.
2. z32 maf upgrade is to accomidate more horsepower, but if you do that u'll have to get your ECU chipped to get it to run correctly or get a SAFC, and theres really no point in getting a z32 maf unless you upgrade you turbo and everything that goes with that.
3. the only reason you should run a side mount is if it comes with your swap and you have no money to upgrade, otherwise you should just do a front mount, it won't cause any lag, its a t25 for christ sake, what is lag? haha

Thanks for the reply :)
1. I did some searching and some info say the cat on our car is a little bit shorter, so I wonder if the stock downpipe will put up to our exhaust, I haven't had like finding a setup with stock KA exhaust for S13, ppl usually use 3inch downpipe with sr20det test pipe and aftermarket catback :(
So I wasn't sure.
2. So the SR's mafs are usually replaced when people want to go over 250hp? Or just Z32 mafs are more popular because it's easier to find?
3. I've read somewhere the FMIC does induce lag compare to stock SMIC and it will get rid of heat-soak problem, but was wondering if they worth to be upgrade if I am not planning to run more boost than the stock map :)
Thank you so much for you reply :D

1. By stock downpipe I mean like the stock downpipe that bolt up to the cat on our car, I am trying to find one since those 3" downpipe are pretty big for my stock cat and exhaust, and I do hope they will bolt right up without any problem :(
2. So the z32 is not stock map friendly and require a tune if I run it with SR? or it doesn't matter if I try to stay with the stock map for a while?
3. Haha, the swap did come with the SR SMIC, I am more concern about the FMIC look might attract cops if I run into them, I do live in Cali after all
Since the T25 is a fairly small turbo, I would guess FMIC didn't cause much lag but on the other hand, it would cause any hp gain either? I did read something about upgrading FMIC is ideal for better tune and reduce heatsoak problem, but also heard they will increase lag without getting the ecu a tune or chipped :(
Thanks for the great help :D

The stock SR20 downpipe and elbow should bolt up, but I've never seen anyone use the stock downpipe, since they don't come with the swaps.
Stock S13 SR MAFS are good for about 250whp, I know I was maxing mine out at the top of 4th with a S15 T28 at 12psi or so. Z32's are popular since they raise this restriction, but you need some type of engine management to convert the signals - it's NOT plug & play.
The FMIC is un-noticeable, and there is no lag on a t25. It will help with heat soak, but if you're staying with the t25 at stock-ish boost, you'll be fine with the sidemount.

So have you seen any 3inch downpipe used with our stock cat and exhaust? I couldn't find any information on this neither, stock exhaust on SR setup is pretty infamous XD
Got it, so SR stock MAFS is ideal if I am not going crazy on my setup :D Thanks!
True that, if the SMIC is a freebie already, maybe FMIC is just not needed and waste extra money if I only want to run stock map for a while :D
Thanks for helping!
