I had already written a post about what was going on with teh car, but now there is a whole new problem...

http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?threadid=28288&goto=newpost

as some of you may know, the car woulnt idle, and it was smoking blue.., and it wouldnt stop smokin either..

so i checked the oil, and it was over full, so i pushed it into the shop, and i drained the oil... well it was half oil and half gas...
I dont know how it happend but there was gas in the oil...

so i drained all of that, and i went down and got new oil and a new filter, and i put them on..

well it was the wrong filter, and when i tried to start the car, the filter shot off, and oil went everywhere. so after alot of cussing, i went back to the store with the old filter in hand and said i need another one of these. well they had discontinued them, so i asked for something that replaced it,

so with new filter in hand a 4 more quarts of synthetic, i went back to the car, and put all of it on, and checked everything 3 times over..

i turned the key, and vroom.. it started without me giving it any gas, and it idles.. but now it smokes white...

I havent been able to check the timing on it yet.. but the oil pressure guage, and the temp guage seemed to be working fine, and they seemed to stay pretty normal...

what would cause white smoke?

white smoke means your headgasket is bad i think

my friend with an ls turbo had the same problem (or what seemed to be the same problem). it happend when he blew his head gasket. that night he had also scraped one of his cylinders. From what i know (which is based off hondas) it might be the head gasket.

one way to check if its the head gaske is you let your car run long enough and check the tip of the exhuast to see if condensation has built up. or you can put/hold a paper towel over the exhaust and see if the towel becomes damp. those are the ways his mechanics figured it out what was wrong before pulling his **** apart

gasoline in your oil pan could be a symptom of a bad HG and badly sealing rings.

is your coolant covered in oil?

you should've just bought an oem oil filter from nissan. a lot less headaches.

-when you were putting out blue smoke, that was motor oil leaking past the rings or valves or hg into the combustion chamber.

when you changed the oil, the easy flowing gas/oil mixture was turned into a harder flowing pure oil. so your rings are probably sealing better, but it shows that you have another problem since your car is smoking pure white now. you most likely have a blown headgasket.

take off the had and check that it's level, if not, you'll need to have it shaved. also, replace the headgasket.

next check to see if the water pump is working a-ok too.

check your radiator to see if it's clogged, and get a new thermostat and a radiator cap while you're at it. these are all good items to get for maintenance.

Since everyone is sayin headgasket and such, id just do a compression test, its easy and will help eliminate what possible issues u have.

thanks for the tip guy. i used my previous experiences from an old mk3 supra with a blown head gasket. no need to read.
