I was wondering if anyone has these wheels on a 240. Ive seen the Cobra wheels but thought these would look cool cuz they are classic looking and have a +22 offset for 17x8. Just curious.

ahh the gt/bullit wheels, i don't know how they would look, might look ok.
IMO: they don't even look good on mustangs.

They look kinda like the Wantanabe 8 spokes (minus 3 spokes).

They look great on my friend's Bullitt but those are such muscle car wheels, I just don't think they'd look that good on a 240.

how do your wheels levitate like that? haha..

mmm not really suitable.
to me, the wheels seem good on boxy car. s13 is too smooth, just doesnt flow right.

Ya the wheels arent the best looking to begin with, although in the pic I dont think its bad. Since there are a billion junked Rustangs in Colorado maybe Ill look for a cheap set to see what they look like. I just need wheels to get my damn 5 Lug swap on :( Wish I was rich.

Ya wheelchoice is allot of $$ IMO and I dont have hooks in japan to get me wheels.

Ive considered TTZ Wheels (almost got some last week locally). Ive also won s14 SE wheels for 190$ but the fugger wanted 200$ for shipping so I told him to **** off.

I think Ive searced for every damn OEM wheel that could fit Z Brakes for cheap and be decent looking.

My next idea is the 93 IIRC Q45 BBS wheels. Not sure the offset but they are cheaper and nicer looking then s14 se wheels.

The stock 17x8 Cobra wheels are under $700 for a full set BRAND NEW!

$125 apiece from the Summit catalog, and one of my Ford driving friends says you can find them cheaper.

Zilvia makes me poor :) More so now since our T1 line contact expired and we have to find a new host which will be 400$ a month more.

Well, TTZ wheels are +45 front. Not to keen on that idea since you have to adjust camber to make the tires clear even on Spring shock combos, sure they wont fit coils.

S14 SE wheels are just to skinny. I really want a 16x8 16x9 or 17" but that would require spending lots of $.

16x8 panasports aren't expensive.... but they aren't really attractive either.. lol

I dont know about those stang wheels. They will probly look cool, I dont think they will clear the brakes. I have looked at them up close and they look they wouldnt even have a chance.

My 98 cobras clear because the spokes curve out a decent amount.

Hmmm, with +22 they should clear unless the spokes are some funky design.

Im looking for other sources to get these wheels and most of them show backspacing. So here I am converting backspacing to offset and it dosent seem right unless the wheels I have found are +43 offset. Heres my calcs.

Backspacing = 5.72"
Wheel width = 8"

5.72" - (8" / 2) = 1.72" Offset.

Now when I convert this to mm its +43. Dosent make since, seems to high for the mustang unless thats really what these replicas are. My question is, am I converting the 1.72" of offset correctly? I assumed its mm that I need to know, but I could be thinking wrong here. Thanks!

Its not offset the determines if it will clear the brakes its spoke design. If you look at the brakes on a stang the are a floating caliper, so its pretty much flat on the outside and the spokes dont flare out at all really. So if you went to put them on with z brakes the caliper would hit cuz its a fixed caliper with pistons on both sides, meaning its wider.

If you know someone with a mustang try it out, I would be shocked if they cleared.

You're missing one thing about the conversion from backspacing to offset. Backspacing includes the lip that extends past the mounting surface - it's the TOTAL width of the wheel, not just the mounting width. If you measured a 17x8" wheel from lip to lip with a tape measure you'd see it was more like 9" wide.

To properly calculate offset from backspacing, either assume the wheel is 1" wider, or subtract 1/2" from the final number.

Using this method:

5.72" backspace - .5" lip - (8" / 2) = 1.22" offset

1.22" x 25.4 = 31mm.

Mark, you should go stop by peformance wheel and tire off santa fe and see if they will sell you 2 sets of rear z32 wheels (if they have a couple sets, they usually at least have one). Those would fit and look nice, IMO. I've wanted to run this setup for a while. Look around over there, they have many sets of OEM wheels that might do the trick for the time being.

AKA: I thought that and did the calcs for that but wasent sure thats what you should do. I added a inch when I did it and got 30.6 or something or 31. I guess I will have to find some replicas with the right offset im looking for, thanks!

Alex: Funny, I stopped by Performance Wheels and Tire on the way home from picking up the open diff from you but they had already closed. :) hehe. I might check back there again when I get some time. Wish I could mount up some of these wheels to see if they worked, but its not like I could tell since my Z Brakes wont go on until I have the 5 Lug swap done.

Yea you should definitely go check them out. I havent been there in a while myself, but I've seen sets of z32 (na or tt, dont know) every time I've been there.

BTW, i replied to your email, did you get it?

Hey Mark, did a test fit of that wheel last weekend. It fits great in the rear, but will need ~10mm spacer in front if running Z brakes. Stock or Q45 brakes will likely be fine or require 3-5mm if anything.
Doesn't look bad, either.

Thanks to JK Motorsports for the use of their facilities (and sorry about my clumsiness).
