View Full Version : New HKS CAMP engine monitoring system
The HKS CAMP System is an in-dash vehicle monitoring system that allows for multiple engine readings to be monitored to help “dial“in the vehicle for optimum performance on or off the track.
Analog Display
The analog display can indicate speed, RPM, gas mileage, fuel consumption and injector opening percentage. The CAMP includes peak data memorization and allows the scale to adjust according to current driving conditions.
Graph Display
This screen provides a data-recording feature that allows the user can evaluate driving conditions and engine performance. The feature of composing the graph by assigning any available data to X and Y, enables unique and special analysis.
Alarm Feature
This allows the user to set a designated limit for each data. CAMP will inform the user by sound and graph if any data passes the limit.
Digital Display
The bar graphs along with digital numbers indicate multiple data to simultaneously observe entire vehicle conditions.
Trip Function
This function provides five trip recorders that individually memorize the total driving distance, operation hours, fuel consumption and average gas mileage. This function can be used to manage vehicle maintenance, compare time and gas mileage between two different routes or managing driver information for long trips.
Fish Function
The fish function provides the opportunity to enjoy your driving experience in an entertaining way. Your driving technique, such as speed and gas mileage, changes the environment of the fish pond and affects the health of the tropical fish.
Friction Loss Calculation
CAMP calculates the friction loss and graphically displays the percentage of lost horsepower compared to genuine horsepower.
FEATURES:
Graphical data created by a 32 bit RISK CPU.
HKS Peak Hold/Warning Meter sensors can be connected optionally. (Junction box and Sensors available separately.)
Video signal switch allows the user to change from the CAMP displays to video games, VCR or vehicle navigation system by using the remote controller.
Sounds like a super sexy piece of equipment! ... I want it... but most of all I want it for the FISH FUNCTION!!! hahahaa :D that sounds GREAT!

I got it from Takakaira.
Connecting to ECU is not very hard.
I did not however get the other sensors, to check exhaust temperature etc.
Its not as bad as you think, as its like a S-AFC for me now...
And it does not cost too much .

wow I also thought you had to use all HKS gauge senders. thats friggin awesome, I've seen them come and go on ebay but I'm always wary of secondhand japanese electronics bought via an auction site from someone who may or may not have known what it was or how to take it out and probably still doesn't know how it works.

camp systems are pretty much universal AFAIK
they run on Ebay for like $200 or so.
The junction box is supposedly discontinued, but HKS USA still advertises it and it's supposedly still available through them. The junction box will run like $300+, and each sensor will be another $150 or so. So, if you want to have a boost sensor, you're looking at $450 + the CAMP system. add in water temp and oil pressure, and you're looking at $750 + the CAMP system. It'd probably come to a good $1000 before the system was actually worth much more than a flashy display of your speed.
Although, I plan on getting the CAMP system alone to use for datalogging at tracks/ autocross, and using the datalogging function to check timing between turns/ sections, and speed through slalom sections, etc.
As far as I know, this is a new system... I don't even know what CAMP stands for, but you can see more specs (and pricing... it ain't cheap!) on www.takakaira.com.
Maybe it's not the first of its kind... but first by HKS? ... whatevers. For those too lazy to check out the link, it goes for just under $650 (everything incl.) plus shipping. If you bought it stateside, I'd guess it'd cost you around $800. pretty pricey! ... although if you consider it costs as much as $200/gauge for nice ones, it could be cheaper than picking up individual Defi gauges. :p

I have the camp, good setup but cost a bunch for all the other parts. is there a way of getting around the junction box to run other sensors?

techtom ROCKS
one of the best things you can buy! my friend (toso on his z32tt) got his on a group buy. i want one so much after playing with his
plugs right in so easily and just route the wiring and bingo that's it!!
he also got the alarm thing for it so you set a warning temp/voltage/etc and it will beep if the car meets that warning. pretty cool! :)
worth every cent.

Sort of odd for a "new" system to already have most of it's components discontinued.
It's (the HKS CAMP) a few years old. I remember wanting one for my S13 back when I still had it.
... I don't even know what CAMP stands for

The CAMP is old as hell. I remeber seeing them on the sales rack at Yellow Hat back in '97 when I was back in JapOn. All you have to do is look at the box they come in:p
Still it's pretty fun to play with and easy to install. We got the one for our demo car with everything for 300.
