I've noticed on some of the TAS pics that some of the 240's and many other jdm cars having chrome rims that are huge and some of them have neons on them. The chrome rims are ok...i guess. I see the neons only on the sides but none on the fornt or rear....is this there way of expressing rice?

Since your car's appearnce gets factored in to drift events sometimes, drifting can be considered "rice" (since it is just putting on a good show). Its rice, but none of this Uncle Ben boil and serve B.S. It would be like go grow your own then mach it and steam it and boil it, and steam it and.... all over a fire made from twigs and bare hands, and... well, yah a little overboard there. Anyway, guys over there just make nice looking cars and use them out on the circuit. Partially due to the low cost, and partially to the Japanese mentality. But having 18x10.5 chrome rims and sparkly paint, then driving to Ebisu and OWNING or even competing is NOT rice. Rice is altezzas on anything but IS300 and Altezza. Rice is making your car look like something its not, just for the purpose of looks, without any function (imo). People use "rice" and "ricer" too generally nowadays. Most things people do are "posing". Posers suck. "Drift cars" and never drifting them. "JDM" stickers and none of those companies or not knowing what they are. Bucket seats for a daily driver and ONLY a daily driver. -4 degrees camber to park in a parking lot and watch an event. etc....

ya but JDM chrome is NICE!! lightweight and forged. not that cast crap and coated chrome.

look at Haruguchi's D1 FD3S...soo nice.

i'd rock the chrome if it was well made and tough. that cast crap will just crack and be a waste.

i like the bling.

I dont think that buckets in a daily driver is "ricey" Although I do use the car for track events it is mainly a daily driver. I found that buckets were generaly cheaper than reclineable and therefore more economic for my situation. So, i wouldnt just go and make a general comment like that.

I will say that those who do not do any kind of track events and have the crazy camber/hard suspension setup just for looks confuse me...discomfort and expensive tires just for looks seems like a waste.

You don't see that many ricey cars here. If they are it is more thaan likely that it is owned by an American. It's funny because some Americans buy a Skyline GTS-T and they put a GT-R wing and emblem on it and ride around like they own a GT-R. When they drive around town all the Japanese laugh at them. The Japanese want to have cars like Americans. I went to a car show and there were 4 late 60's Impalas with hydros and 13" gold Daytons and alot of Camaros. Kinda funny. A few Japanese have C5 Corvettes.
