Hey guys,
I was wondering how much you guys like your C's short shifter. I would also like to know where you bought it and how much because I don't wanna get ripped off thanks for your help and input. Oh yeah if anyone is selling a C's short shifter for a 98 240sx let me know.
thanks

I bought mine used in Japan and I love it, not noisy like the copies and makes shifting much more solid and a decent difference in the throw.

you can get it on Ebay sometimes. try www.RareTrick.com
i say get the B&M..that thing is great. short and solid. i have it in my car. all my friends say its so short when they feel it even ones that already have short shifters..they thought theirs was short till they felt mine.
does make noise when u get into high rpms..but who gives a ****
u can get the B&M on ebay somtiems
the OBX/PILOT/C's is basically all the same..obx/pilot copied their design

check out JT imports (http://www.jt-imports.com/C`s.htm). A couple months ago they had a group buy on the C's for something like 190 shipped. At the price listed on the website, I think it's comparable to the B&M in price. Might be a little off there though. But it's the best price i've seen for it besides that group buy.

speaking of shifter... i am looking for one also... however on my 91 s13 i cant get the factory shift knob twisted off... the more i try, it seems like i could twist off the whole shifter from the transmission... so the question here is, how do i go about getting the factory shift knob off?

if its going to be a nuisance like that
get some pliers and hold the bottom and twist the top off
its that glue stuff they use, its not meant to be removed
mine came off with a simple twist but some people it will twist/separate teh shifter i think
get some pliers and hold the shifter, then twist the knob off.....good luck!

Well I got my C's fro Sam (Jspec) and I think its great. I tested out Sam's B&M in his yellow coupe, and it was extremely notchy, and a little to harsh for me because my car is also a daily driver. The C's however I find to be perfect. Throws feel good, right amount of notchiness, solid feel and all around good shifter. I drove my freinds stock S13 and the regular throws seem very long now. Thats all I gotta say about that....

Yea mine was a pain to take off too. I used some scisors(sp?) and cut it off.
Please post pics of your C's shifter. Mine seems to have vertical play. I'm about to machine a spacer to shim it.

Pipe wrench > shift knob.
Wrapped it in a towel, so the knob is still nice and knobby.
Anyhow, be careful though because a pipe wrench could be > the shifter | > your transmission.
while we're on this topic, my c's shifter was working great when i first installed it. after about a week or so, the throw didnt feel as nice as when i first installed it. does anyone know if its just a mental thing, or what? i tried to re-install it just to try it out, and it still felt diffrnt from when i first installed it.
also, does the c's have those plates as well like the OBX/Pilot my c's has like these 4 big washer type things. ill post the pix of what i mean.
maybe someone NJ/NY local can help me out and figure out if its all mental or not by checking my throws LOL :p

Last time I was in Atlanta, I met Russ (R240NAII to you guys) for the first time, he has A C's short throw in his 96, and I stole a couple swings at it while I was in his driver's seat, and he had to move my car and BOTH OF US notices how much shorter my B&M was than the C's... Why doesn't he have the C's? Because he had his car and got his shifter before B&M realized what a GEM they had. Long story short, my shifter was well worth the tried shoulder I had for the first couple weeks, and each new noise my car makes when it's not breaking shit is more than welcome to me, so I have no problem with that rattle I hear over 5500 RPM.

I got mine about a half a year ago at AutoImaging- Project D. I'm just putting it on now while I'm changing the clutch, it should be done tomorrow night. I didn't feel like putting it in during the winter. I think I paid around $220.

You people sound like girls are complaing about a little rattle.
modifed cars for race or whatever always makes all types of noise. Deal with it and learn to love it! :D

I agree with this, I have a stock KA, so if I am rarely on the gas long enough to hear the rattlle, and I personally think it's kinda cool. On top of that, the rattle would be the least of somone's worries if they were looking for something to bitch about, the fact that it take a bit more effort to shift now would be the major complaint, while still not a problem to me.

Well, at least your plates stayed.
I had an OBX one couple of years ago and one of the plates fell off after 1 month, and it sucks as Pilot does not sell this part, and I had to get either a new one or another short shifter.
I ended up with B&M and I'm satisfied.
BTW, does anyone know where to get the plate for OBX or (does those on the C's shifter fit OBX?)

I installed the C's in mine and broke it in after a week. You have to make sure you use thread lock to tighten the bolts down which adjusts the tightness and feel of the shifter... after that its maintenance free.... make sure you put some thread lock down there don't want to lose anything.
