It does not have anything attached to it my guess is that it is a weight or something? it attaches to the fire wall and thats it. Does anyone know if it serves any purpose at all?

Firewall noise dampener.
I am quoting myself because I already said what this piece is and what it does. S13's and S14's have them, S14's also have a dampener like this on the stock exhaust piping next to the diff. They are not needed, it was just something Nissan did to quiet the car down or reduce vibrations.

I always thought it was on-star in case you drift off a cliff and you crash it sends beams to the NISSAN satellite and you get rescued.

Firewall, right behind the head. As stated, it's a damper. Remove it.

Precisely where it is, Anyways ok that makes sense that it is a noise dampener, Awesome! at least its something haha. I thought it may have been a weight or some sort of grounding box for some reason. Another question of what something is... What is that Green small square box thats mounted to the drivers side fender?!?!

Many of you are asking where it's located. So here is a pick, this thing saved me after I flew off a cliff, NISSAN Robotic search dogs came and found me.

soooo....why are we all gun-ho about removing any piece of vibration dampening off a unibody car that is spot welded and glued together?
What does it weigh...2 lbs? Just put down the cheeseburger instead.
to be useful.
If you have any questions about what a plug does on the s13, just drop me a PM. I have some nice hard to find wiring books that were dealer only and out of print. They contain diagrams, descriptions, and pin-outs of all the chassis/engine wiring.

Can't this thread died already?
Especially when this topic is as old as Elton John. The first person to ever pull an engine from an Schassis discussed this.

It's a common problem the battery sometimes dies, they were designed to last about 130 years but some short out due to excessive turbo spooling noise and underwater driving. But not to worry there is a fix for it
There are 2 pins inside, you must get the OEM NISSAN Part #J4440-F53-TPA3.
Use this tool to open the box and you will see 2 round connectors with gray protective caps that require a 2.5mm socket to remove. Under the protective caps you will find the connectors colored red for positive charged electrons and Black for negative charged electrons.
Next you will need NISSAN Part#J4440-F53-TP5, this tool will allow you to charge the unit with special type of electrons, you will have to charge this exactly for 2 hours 25 minutes and 44 seconds to assure proper capacity of electrons have traveled into the device, once that is complete you can press the little red button and the device will self close and beep 2 times with a long tone to alert you that it's on and it will self close in 5 seconds , fallowed by a short single beeptell to tell you it's back online and operating.
Do this with caution, these devices have tremendous amount of force when they close, somewhere around 500 pounds of pressure, so it could hurt you. If you need somebody to fix it for you I charge $155 for the repair

Lets not post whore here, the block does nothing. Do an experiment, drive the car around the block with the box, then remove it and do the dame thing. Nothing. My s14's damper was different.
I couldnt imaging how a solid peice of steel would dampen a firewall, rubber usually acts like a dampner, and even the dampner on the automatic tranny does jack shit. Theres no leverage on these pieces.

Nismo sells an upgraded unit or you can just fill in the gaps between it and the firewall with window weld.

Yeah, I dunno how a solid piece of steel can make anything wet...
