So as I sit here bored at work I was looking at wings for my car. of course dousan always says

"take off that stupid GTR wing and go for the spoillerless look!"

I'm sure it might look nice but me being me I like wings. I never really liked those aluminum wings or crazy GT wings but this one from Rotora looks really nice and might look good. What you think? I'm not acually planning to buy it but it was just a thought.

Rotora 3-D GT wing (http://shop.elitemotion.com/customer/product.php?productid=114&cat=&page=&XCARTSESSID=c7fe3597b4e43af1607e358950a538cc)

yay, the new style GT wing.
seems every manufacturer makes one now... u know it's riced/played out when APC and JSP make these things. $722?! Good god man, that's half an SR or KA+T kit. You can buy an 89-90 for less than that thing. What a horrid investment :/

APR does not APC. They make the flat ones not the curved ones. But the Rotora ones seems to be much higher quality. You can easily tell which wings people have are the cheap ones or expensive ones.

rotora one hangs down more on edges. like saggy
the CHokets you can see is flat with the curves

i saw the rotora one on richards car, wasnt that great
and the end of wings..hang too low

just seems so drooopy and soggy

the Chokets is flat but curved. i'll scan some pics tonight of various GT wings on Various cars. you'll see JdM TyTe Yo StYlEe

This is the APC version
not exactly the same, but it's APC, not exactly know for the quality of their knockoff junk

just by looking at the pic, it looks like junk
im sure if one would examine the materials used, would come to the same conclusion.

oh I totally agree, they say it's a urethane wing... which by it's very nature, means it's flexible, thus pointless... but APC isn't totally dumb! They know most their wings will go on ricey FWD cars! see this way, when that lil civic hits 80 or so, the wing flexes instead of creating downforce, thus NOT taking downforce away from the drive wheels ;) see how that works? hahahhaa

My point was just that APC DOES in fact make a knockoff of that style wing.

for kouki s14, the best looking wing is still the k's wing. Unless you have a nice, full kit, GT wing looks out of place.

*sigh* no nice wing for poor zenkis :(

everything looks out of place on a zenki, even wingless,

anyway. I don't go fast enough to need one :)

Well I do have a full kit *ahem not nice though, Wide low offset wheels, brakes etc. So I think my car could pull it off. Like I said though it was just a random thought. motorswap is next on teh agenda.

$722!

If you REALLY want a giant, unneeded wing like that at least do it the cheap (and smart) way.

Step 1: Find tag sale, buy old rotting* bookshelf that sat in a basement/garage for a couple years, buy it for about $5.

*The rotting is key, the lighter the better.

Step 2: Go to your local hardware store and buy some zip ties and duct tape (you'll probably already have this stuff though), it will cost about $3.

Step 3: Take the bookshelf and stand it up, except sideways. Rip the piece of wood on the back off and then snap it in half (it doesn't matter how as long as you do it parallel to one side, not diagonally). Using a combination of zip ties and duct tape the two pieces to the bookshelf on the side that is facing up towards the cieling. Carry this assembly to your car and again using zip ties and duct tape attach it to your car.

All the ricers will be crazy jealous at how sweet your wing is compared to theirs.

Final cost: $8

Which is a savings of $714. I've included a picture to aid with the process because I'm pretty bad at explaining with words.

I actually do like that style wing... my biggest problem and the one that will forever probably keep me from gtting one... is the height. if I got one the perches would be cut so it sits no more than 2 maybe 3 inches off the decklid.. kinda like the DoLuck one for the R32. but everytime I look at one for purchase I go.. no need suspension! more boost! a paint job! a lapdance!

NiteKids, when one considers how much you post pictures of your car, it's a bit mindboggling that you still don't have an alarm.

interesting thing i came across...

"You do not need a spoiler anywhere on the street if you are not driving like an ass. It is cosmetic. If you frequient track days, it could be helpful, it could also cause some problems because your handeling balance isn't the way you think it will be at all speeds. The purpose of adjustable aerodynamics is to adjust the balance at different speeds. IE, you do not want a terribly loose car at high speed, but it is nice to have a looser car at low speed, so you put a wing on the back that creates downforce at speed giving the rear more traction and balancing the car, and eventually planting the rear completly at very high speed. This is different than a spoiler, whose main purpose is to limit aerodynamic lift by creating smooth flowing eddys on the back of
cars up the rear window, filling the "hole" left by the green house as it goes through the air. I don't know cars that have no wings, or the traditional spoilers aerodynimic charecto! r is affected, such as by the WRX wing which isn't really a wing, but isn't a spoiler really either. Though it may cause some positive turbulance somewhere....."

i need to do some research on car aerodynamics over the summer. the topic really intrigues me, and its funny how auto enthusiasts dont' really know anything about the topic yet aero parts are probably one of the largest segments in the aftermarket industry.

i have never liked those wings.. aluminum, or anything that high. i like wings that look flush with a car and usually bigger than oem wings. of course there are some oem wings that are huge like the supra ones.. the ones i like are type r/civic si wings, kouki, etc.. wings that look good but not too high.. im into those rally style wings one evos and suburas.. if there's a such thing as rally style..

have some zenki pride man! =p
dont you like happy cars as opposed to angry cars?

how fast do you need to go to warrant such flashy wing?

oh im thinking about getting a K's wing for the zenki btw.

What the hell are you talking about, everything looks better on Zenki. If it for Zenki we wouldn't have the kouki. personally i like the drift wing on the s14, nothing huge though like the bomex one, something small and clean.

I thought id chime in here.

I took my stupid fiberglass POS wing off my s13 and now Im wingless becuase it made so much force at 80+ mph that it cracked. dont know about the wings in question however, but I like wingless now
