So what I thought was a bad hub (See http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/276015-re-using-wheel-studs.html ) actually might be related to my rear passenger shock/spring.
I'm not completely sure, but I noticed when pressing down in the rear/trunk, I'm actually hearing a squeal/rubbing in the rear shock tower.
I've tested both sides and only notice it in the passenger rear. This included pretty thorough grabbing and roughing the wheel to verify it wasn't the bearing.
So since its only on 1 side, is it just because the spring is not mounted correctly to the shock? I'm using a AGX and Tokico spring combination that hasn't given me problems/issues whatsoever in the past.
While the sound seems to be now more focused in the shock/spring and has me less concerned about ruining/losing a wheel bearing, I'm wondering why this is the case?
I figured my installation went fine and that over time the spring shifted/turned so now I think there's rubbing during compression/extension of the shock and/or spring. It almost seems to be like there's a gap between the shock/shock tower but its pretty secure/torqued to spec.
Has anyone ever had this issue before? I did a search but it was limited to shock/spring squeal but may this be related to coilover owners? Is it just a matter of re-aligning everything and re-installing?
If it comes down to it --- would these be needed? TEIN SPRING SILENCER RUBBER: MEDIUM (90-130MM DIA)-Options Auto Salon (http://www.optionsauto.com/prodinfo.asp?number=TEIN-SPR02-G1497)
Any input and experience you have with this more annoying than dangerous issue would be great.
Thanks!
