So, I found a place local to me that says they can cut a gasket for the oil pan on an SR20. I'll be taking the factory pan there tomorrow so they can do some measurements.
The gasket will be cut from high-quality silicone sheet, to resist the temperature and the oil. I'm going to experiment with 1/16" and 1/8" thickness.
Anyway, I know most of you will say "RTV is silicone, there's no reason for this" but I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to pay, say, $15-20 to not have to screw with the tube of sealant. Near me RTV is about $8 a tube, and I'm perfectly willing to pay more for less hassle on the install. In theory if you were careful on removal this gasket should be reusable too.
I'm not looking to make money here, just contribute to the community. If no one's interested, no big deal. Mods if this is in the wrong place or out of line (I'm not a vendor after all) please let me know.
