Alright heres the deal. Not to come off sounding like a prick but I'm not one of the idiots who logs on here with no idea WHAT they're talking about. As of now I have a 99 GSX and 96 240SX. I will be moving to Florida soon and have been looking to get something a bit more unique. I'm not one of the skyline nuts and I'm not about to drop 50+grand on one. There is a dealership on modifiedcartrader.com Known as BDM.CO.LTD. They have an office in Miami and sell(supposedly) clean s15's for around twenty grand with low kilometers and promise of a U.S. title and DOT compliance. They have multiple imported cars online. My question is if anyone is aware of the legitimacy of this company. I'm not worried about legal issues in that sense just worried this isn't some bullshit where you reserve a s15 that they show you (even in person) and never deliver. I'm sorry that a question like this is generally by starters who have unfullfilled dreams of owning a JDM but i'm serious, I'm just trying to make sure i dont get screwed over because people do that shit. Please and Thanks guys.
P.S. any feedback is appreciated but if possible leave out all the "it'll never happen" and "only in your dreams" messages

You are probably better off asking this in the regional section, or do a search on some Florida forums/google about this company. I for one have never heard of them, but justbe careful b/c Miami is the birthplace of all shady people.

DRTYRAT by far the most helpful and good intentioned reply yet. Thankyou and I will have to post the thread in the regional. I called the company and theres photos and contracting seems legit but I knew of how shitty miami is with people screwing eachother over right and left so I was looking for some security. Thanks again

It may be "legit" but S15 will never be completely legit in the states. Feds have been cracking down lately on the whole importation of JDM cars and registering them as a Kit Car. Thats one way they are registered in FL.

If you drive it on public streets, it will be either;
Stolen the 1st day - its FL, common sense should tell you 99% of the dumbest posts come out of FL - on every forum on the e-web
Towed and confenscated by a state trooper, since it is NOT DOT legal, which is federal, which over rules state.
They know what to look for. Why dont you give me the $20k and ill make it last longer than a week.

So I'm guessing your post is part of the other 1%? It could be stolen the first day, anywhere. BTW, feel free to post up where you are located, and I'm sure I'll find a slew of idiots, not much different than what we have down here.

yeah, uh... Florida is one of the tamest states out there. Miami might have a hard edge, but the rest of the state is just old people and drunk college students. and shrimp fishermen.
Cali is the only state where every car gets stolen the second you walk into a building.

Theres no way you can drive a fully legalized S15 in the U.S. No crash tests have been performed, basically nothing has been done to even try to get it to conform to DOT and EPA standards, trust me i've researched. That doesnt mean you cant buy an S15 with a U.S. title.. but yeah there is a chance it can get taken away due to federal laws being over state laws. All I can say if you buy one, be ready to de-register it and make it for off road use only when they come for it..
Also beware of some company's posting up pictures of their cars they own, but are still in japan. I dealt with a company like that and it sounded like a scheme..

Iv been in Tampa all my life and the only place I would worry about a car is in Orlando and Miami. The rest of FL is not to bad.
And there are actually a good amount of Jap Nissan like skylines pulsars ect ect that I have seen legal in FL. Its just you have to know ppl that can do it.

Yeah, I would be weary of trying to register it as a road car...Now that the US Gov is cracking down, I'd rather have a car I can drive to the track, rather then a super cube paperweight!

Yeah for the most part, stuff always catches up to you once it's not done correctly...You guys have it tough in the US. 99' spec models are legal in 2014 here in Canada. Hell yeah I'm waiting for one! I'll scoop one up closer to the release!

good luck making it road legal, not with those headlights.
skyline guys have been sucking donkey dick due to non-compliant headlights, and canadian laws are only getting more strict (and rightfully so). people keep getting in accidents, thinking their R32 Skyline GTS-T is a fuckin supercar with shitty H3 halogen headlights.
you can import it as a racecar, but like i said... good luck making it street legal.
i'll be more than happy to build a LHD headlight that is DOT compliant, but you guys better get a crapload of buyers (not window shoppers) who can put their money where their mouths are.

Yeah they are taking a bigger look at the imports that are coming into Canada, but as long as I can drive it to the track/meets, it's all good with me. I'm not looking to make it a DD but more of a weekend fun in the summer car...

you would think...that since they can buy the car, they be able to buy headlights...lol

there are some cheap motherfuckers out there.
i mean, i dont necessarily blame them though.. a set of DOT compliant headlights that are certified can cost thousands of dollars. but, thats a drop in the bucket if you imported a true GTR or car of significant value.
you go through ALL the trouble of importing a badassed car and yet, dont think about the legalities. its fucking stupid. even motorex didnt address the improper beam pattern, so all these motorex cars still have flawed headlights.

As a track car, it would be pretty awesome to have.
As a daily... I don't know. It would be more of a guy magnet
than a chick magnet. Plus, IMO, I would only be getting one because it's
an S15 and cause it's hard to come by. Not because there is something special
in the motor that we can't get. But if you have the money, then good luck.

Go to freshalloy.com and find a guy named Tripper, he had one a while back and I see them come up for sale from various guys over there from time to time.
However, the FUZZ has me worried lately because they keep taking people's shit, so Florida or not, I would not drive one.

In other words, YES, his car is illegal too.

Vehicle Importation Regulations (http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/)
Only nissans in the non-conforming eligible list is R33 GTR, 1984 300zx, 1988 240sx. To try to legally get the s15 in, you would have to petition for it with a Registered Importer. There is also a process to go through with EPA to get it legalized. I heard the process is very expensive and crash tests would have to be done. You can get all this info here: http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation/kbyg/prohibited_restricted.xml#Automobiles
I have one which will be for off-road use only, basically a show car and when i get bored I will use it as a track car..
