i currently have a civic with a b16 swap. its seen some autocross and drag duty and has been a fun car. i put it up for sale and am going to pick up a 91 s13 fastback for 1k this weekend. i think i might miss my car though. i know there has to be somebody else here that had that feeling at first. the 240 will be getting an SR swap as soon as the honda is gone. after that would i even remotely miss my honda? did you? just trying to see what others who did the same thought.

I had an old '86 Civic sedan before my s13. However, I don't really consider myself a former honda owner because I inheritted that car during high school to drive to school and work. It was the family beater, did it's job untill about 160k miles when the water pump blew up and other bad things happened. Then I got my '89 fastback and have never thought about that civic untill just now. Thanks a lot. Jerk.

If the KA is in good condition, why the hell are you gonna swap it out? SR JDM tYtnESs frenzy? The KA is perfectly fine for auto-x.

Dude, I had a 93 Dodge Stealth R/T that I loved to death, But eight months ago I sold it for a 93 240sx. The Stealth had 70k miles even, and the 240 had 147kmiles with broken odm, so about 170k miles. But anyways when I brought her home, cleaned her, changed all fluids for the next two days, but for 1500$, you cant beat that deal. Anyways, the next couple of weeks driving around I realized what a real car was. It was not as fast as the stealth, but that was litteraly temperary. You will find yourself in the first couple of weeks, getting jittery because you realize you are driving a rwd car for the first time, and all your life you' ve been watching people doing donuts and stuff like that and now all you have to do is find a coldasack, or in the middle of an intersection where ever you want. The 240sx is the best handeling car I ever witness. But you will be left stuned when you you drive her in the rain for the first time. All of a sudden the 240... never mind, I have to let you find out , thats the whole fun of getting a new car. Right now the only thought going through my head about the Stealth, is, it was not a real sports car. with basic mods the 240sx is just as fast, but put the two on a course and the 240sx will pound the damn stealth so far in to the ground... And I could not amagine what my 240 will be like when get the sr in a month, almost no car will be able to touch it in any division. You will love this car, the civic will be forgoton so fast, that no worry just be carefull and have fun, you will not regret the disision one bit.

I am a former g2 teg owner. In no way will the 240 ever touch the stance of a dumped g2, but god considering its so much higher, its a mystery why it handles no less than 5 times better.

GS-Retarded is a peice of crap. I dont care if it has a 10,000rpm redline and its 170 hp, with a masive 130 pounds of torqe. You can turbo the car, but dont expect more than 250hp with out going into the internals (Inless you dont care about blowing the engine). And the saying is " hp sells, but torq wins the race" so 250hp in a gsr is = 200hp in a 240sx. also its not as light as a s13, so I would not use that as something good about the car. My brothers freind has a type R, thats diff, he took me for a ride in it, and yes that thing is a bad ass car, but if you want to go turbo, you would have to lower its compression( where all it power comes from). But a tuning a gs-r is not as bad a joke as tuning the civic(non-si), but there is nothing special about a nippy cumuter. I beat them all the time, and I dont consider my car that fast. Its all up to the owner, If you own a Yugo, you will defend Yugo, If you have a GSR you will defend a gsr. But I still would not bother to tune that rice cake. Its also funny that people are swaping the fwd sr20det's in the honda's (that tells you something). P.S. TO RICERS: you have already ****ed up hondas name, so please dont miagrate to Nissan.

What do you think the 240sx is? A race car? lol. You need to realize the 240sx is just a car..

05-03-2003, 04:39 PM
I dont think the 240sx race car at all, but I said it was a good turning car, And when the guy with the rice cake started talkin about 8200rpm redline and its light weight, I could not resist roasting on him. For if my 240sx with basic mods eat GS-R's and I said" I dont think my car is fast" what does that make a GSR. 240sx's are not race car's, they can be, just as a GSR can. But dont think your GS-R is the shi+ because it has an 8200rpm red line, thats ricealistic thinking.

I currently own an older gen Prelude. It's my first car, and it's still fun to drive. I can't wait to get a 240SX, I'm just not quite in the position to buy one yet. I'm sure I'll quickly forget about the Lude when the 240 arrives. :)

Thats rice, I mean nice that you think your car is faster with basic mods.. haha basic mods on my gsr will run your car easily. But hey, we could go on forever arguing. I didn't say my car was the ****, did I ever say that? I said I would miss it for its light weight characteristic and high revving ability.

I used to own a 93 Civic Si. It was pretty nice. Fun car to drive. I had Nuespeed race springs/koni shocks, front STBs, I/E and B&M SS (which was the best thing on the car). Then I totaled it!!! :( It was worth it to get me where I am now.....even the though the 240 doesn't run yet:D

05-03-2003, 07:39 PM
I sold my 2000 civic si, turbo car, 252hp and 172 tq. So that i could get a car that i didnot have payments on. I got me a 92 nissan, threw on the silvia front end, an sr20det, and exhaust. the nissan is now faster than the civic was and it has almost nothing done to the motor, still stock boost and all. Only thing i miss was when my civic was tock compression before i put in the pistons, the car was so responsive it was crazy, a great trafic car. Yes the SR is to but only after 2 grand. There is hardly ever a case where my sr is below 2 grand so most of the time the boost is there. Other than that the nissan is top dog, i raced my boy 96 ls/vtec, 10 to 1 compression with a 65 shot of zex and he got me by half a car in the quarter, not bad for me seen as all i have is and exhaust and intake.

Well I had a 240, 95 with 97-98 Silvia conversion. I had a cold air intake, and an N1 Exhaust. I got tired of all the cars here reving at me and beating my ass. And I didn't have the money for an SR, plus mine was an auto. So I traded it for a 92 Honda Hatch with an LS Motor, and $2,000. With that money I put a VTEC head on the LS and banked the rest. Now, there aren't a lof of situations in which I lose. I Love my Honda. Now don't get me wrong, I like a 240 just as much as the next guy, but without having the money for an SR, or turboing the KA, you aren't beating a lot of ppl. I took my Honda to the track, 13.8 @ 103, I'm happy, and that's all motor.

Ive never owned a Honda, my first car was awd turbo and my second car is an n/a 240, however my best friend had a 2nd gen LS integra pretty hooked up, but my 2nd gen GSX smashed it everytime we raced, all I had was intake and exhaust, so my experience with Hondas since then has been that turbo cars have more potential in my opinion, he now has a gsr crx as shown in the picture, its a clean car, pretty quick. But I still prefer rwd or awd turbo to fwd anything. NSX's & S2000's are ill, and I used to want a type-r, but I am convinced that you can do more in rwd. I have also attached a picture below this one of a friends Zinardi NSX along with another friends Type-r. Picture was taken at streets of willow springs, I still wouldnt mind a type-r, those cars are just plain beautiful.

I had a 1987 1G teg before my 240... i liked it, it felt faster and lighter than my s14 before i got used to the heavier body and rwd.
SR puts you into Street Mod, but, Z brakes puts you into STX, larger wheels puts you into DSP, on a NA KA.
Frankly, Solo II classing is made to screw over the 240sx, so you might as well compete in SM if you can't do it in STS ;)

I had a 94' Teg LS its was nice i loved what i did to it. It was a fun car, Till it got hit and TOTALED but all for the better cause i got my 240 right after and im loveing every moment of it. Just all that time put into the Teg and now its gone ohh well

my civic is already in SM anyway b/c of the swap. not really a big deal to me. i'm not trying to compete nationally or anything. the 2nd place finish i got last year at one event was pretty thrilling to me. it was my first season.
i too have put alot of time in this car, but its no big deal the next one will have alot of time in it too. i like the building process for some reason.

I used to own 94 Civic Si, 88 CRX Si, 86 CRX Si, 95 Eclipse GS-T and a 91 Mazda Miata. All nice cars. Each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Is the 240sx I drive now the best of the bunch? I say no because each of the cars I have owned were so different, its hard to say. I can say that the 240sx was the hardest to get used to driving. But it does what I want it to do and does it reasonably well. Would I ever go back to Honda again? Maybe. Would I ever go back to FF again? Maybe. Depends on lots of factors, some of them pertaining to performance, some of them not.
Each car has its plusses and minuses. I've seen really nice sports coupes walk all over the competition and I've seen Festivas and Yugos wail on cars that were supposedly much faster. I may be making a big assumption here, but at the level of driving that most of us are at right now, how fast we go is more an indication of skill than of the performance of the car.

Yeah I have driven quite a few.
Personally owned 2 of them. They still are the most dependable cars out there IMHO. I wanted a 240 because I wanted to try drifting. Whether I have what it takes, I do not know.
Hope I have fun at least.

I used to own a 93 del Sol Si with a SOHC VTEC in it. Nice fun car. Had a body kit and some rims, big brakes, lowered, nothing too extreme, just a comfortable, reliable daily driver that looked good. Then I sold it to my little brother and bought a 96 Civic DX Hatchback. Drove it around for 3 days on the stock suspension and motor. Then I gutted it, added 2 del Sol seats (made by Recaro), B20 Motor with 2.5 inch piping, lowered on Sportlines, custom flat black rims (got them for free :) ). Car was very strong. Ran 14.9's all day long and still got 35mpg. I had big plans for that car, but I got bored with it and sold it and bought my 91 Fastback..... I kinda still wish I had my Honda, but Honda's are like assholes.... everyone's got one.

you my friend are a moron! how does talking about the 8200 rpm make it a ricealistic thought? thats a function over form where as ricers tend to go with form over funciton even tho the form they choose is usually crap lol the gs-r can handle just as well as a 240, have u ever driven a gs-r? and for someone who KNOWS how to drive a gs-r and someone who KNOWS how to drive a 240, the gs-r will be good enough to at least keep up with the 240, and both cars with basic bolt-on's there is no doubt that the gs-r would take out the 240 depending on drivers c'mon now, get real, we have some people who own two 240s yet hate them, and some that give their cars too much credit...... at least be realistic

To all of u flaming hondas, eat **** and die :) hehe....I used to own a Turbo GSR until it got stolen. I will admit, the integra doens't handle quite like the 240, with teh turn in and all, but it was a bit lighter and more nimble than my s14. I'm happy with my s14 now, except the fact that it's a zenki has the uglyass front end :). Anyone who thinks a stock 240 will even hang with a GSR, is smokin crack. The gsr only lacks the torque, but will walk the 240 easily thereafter. Both cars have their pros and cons, and over all i do think that the s14 is a better performing car, but the gsr can also be made to perform very well. While we're on hondas, the ITR, is one of the most neutral/balanced FWD cars...and will hand a stock 240 its ass in handling and power....As for the topic, i do miss my car very often, it just has a different feel from the 240...= |....but i love my car now :), srpowered with more power and handling potential. Sorry for rambling :)

haha thats ridiculous and very immature statement...
hondas are very underrated now-a-days... sure, we hate them for rice factor... but for speed, i wouldnt even go there... dont flame another persons opinions.. pretty ignorant in my opinion...
i owned a g2-teg with a B20 (crv motor) turbocharged... most of the cars out here cant even touch me with it... (RIP-god rest her soul) i love tegs.. they look very sleek and designed properly... and if tuned right it could be crazy fast... im not trying to argue with you or anything... im just saying... the handling with the 240's is out of this world compared to honda...
but guaranteed unless your turboed and running high boost (15-17) at that.... a stock Ka will not touch my former car... this thread made me miss it now... i hate you people... lol...oh well...
and to the person who started the thread... its all on you... there certain aspects of honda that you might not find in the 240 and vice versa...but you wont be dissapointed with the 240..;)

But the stock d16z6 motor is just too weak. was gonna drop the DSM turbo into it, but got lazy. Now in the process of dropping a 95 ka24de into a 1993 chasis. Ran into a lot of little problems here and there. But its all good, almost done.
