Hey guys looking to pick myself up a gt2871r but just had a few questions before doing so. This is what my setup will be with this turbo.
S14 SR20DET ~ Stock internals
gt2871r w/ HKS actuator @ 14psi
S15 480cc Injectors
n62 MAF
FMIC w/ HKS Bov *non recirc*
z32 Fuel filter
Megan FPR
Walbro fuel pump
So i have everything except the gt2871r. Right now im still running the stock t28 with the hks actuator at 14psi and the 370cc injectors. Will the s15 480cc injectors be enough for the gt2871r? I know 550 or 555 would be better but can i get away with running 480cc injectors? This question is keeping me back from purchasing it or not.
Also, pretty noob question but am i at risk of blowing my engine with this setup? I'm still pretty new to all the tuning and modding things but would like your experienced inputs.
Thanks!
EDIT: Also, will i need to purchase aftermarket turbo lines for this turbo or will the stock t28 turbo lines bolt up to this? Is there any other t2 flange turbo that might be better for my setup that is cheaper than the 2871r?

For the 480's you'd have to run like 7lbs max on the 2871r.... I'm surprised your runnign 14lbs t28 on 370s your maxing those injectors out buddy..

Whats wrong with maxing it out? All that means is its running at the MAX it can?
Would the s15 SpecR turbo be better buy for my setup? I dont plan on upgrading anymore!
Oh and tuning wise i've got a NISTUNE ECU.

You won't be able to run the wastegate pressure which is 14 psi with 480cc. Best bet is to buy a 7 psi actuator but imo its a waste to buy a 2871r and only run with 480cc injectors. Save money or just shell it out for 550cc or 740cc. 550cc will max out around 350-360hp and 740cc will be good to about 400 or a little more.
and no the stock lines will not fit around the 2871r so you will need aftermarket. Its worth it anyway. Easier to install, uninstall and looks better.

Oh ok thanks so much! Luckily i asked these questions before just being an impulse buyer like i usually am! I dont plan on upgrading the injectors. What would you say a good PSI is for the 480cc injectors? I can't live with 7psi so thats out of the question loL!
So the s15 SpecR turbo is a better buy for my setup?
Also, is there really any difference from the t28 turbo i have now and the s15 SpecR turbo?
I've read on a couple posts that it's the same thing as what i have now.

Because if you have a small fuel delivery problem or the injectors really AREN'T flowing their rated amount, then you're going to run lean and blow your shit up. A lot of injectors flow under what they are rated. Don't cheap out or you will be pissed when you get to build an engine, injectors are cheap as shit.
There are reasons that 80% duty cycle is the maximum recommended by most people.

Ahh...Makes sense now. Still learning sorry.
So whats a good rated safe PSI higher than 7 that i can run on my setup if i choose to get the s15 SpecR turbo? 10-12psi?

Fuck 550cc, go run 740cc if you plan on running a GT2871R. Its better to have more than just enough fuel. I've seen 550cc max out at 99% duty cycle at 300whp.

I did two runs at 12psi from a t28 on my s13 blacktop and it was running pretty lean. 10psi was pretty good, but i didn't really push it.
I think if you get a s15 t28 and got your 480's in with tune, should be able to run 12-14psi. I just ordered some 550cc but thinking about getting 740cc to be on safe side. Will be running either the disco potato or the 28871r.

So will 11.5psi on my s14 t28 with the 480's be fine? Isnt that normal boost with the FACTORY selenoid?

The GT2560R [S15 turbo] is run best with 550 injectors/Z32 MAF/tune. Crank up the boost to 17psi after that with an Apex AVCR and youll be happy as flies to shit.

^^^If you plan on doing 17psi, why not just get a gt28rs or a gt2871 instead??? It will handle that 17 psi way better and last longer at that amount of boost.
12 psi on 440cc, z32 maf with tune should be fine.

Go with 740cc or 850cc. I upgraded to 850's from my s15 480cc, and my idle is just like stock.

Dont waste your money. 2871r's efficiency range is 21-25 psi. Get a potato.
