Ok guys at first and before someone ask the question, I got an S12 and I wont lie I've read that S12 thread that have been locked.. and honestly I've been shocked but some comments posted there. So mainly i decided to register here, show up my ride (if it can change your opinion on the S12 platform that's cool, if not.. i can live with that), to talk a bit about my perception of that car and my plans for it.. and also demystify a few things about the lack of S12 aftermarket parts and that car being nearly impossible to modify right.

So mainly here's my S12.. I personnally think it look good and I often get good comments about my car in town

woops this is the car when I got it.. ugly as fuck eh?
after a bit of love:

Looks a bit better no?

Now here is what have been done so far:
S13 front suspension conversion (its all bolt on, mainly its just some S13 balljoint and knuckles)
Megan Racing coilovers
Megan Racing tie rods
180SX front brake
Autopower 4pts roll bar (yes there is aftermarket cages for those car)
Nissan S12 SE lip kit (yes the body is all made from factory parts except the rims)
Drag DR-20 wheels
Bartco strut brace

Custom intake and 2inches exhaust with no cat no resonator and an high flow muffler.

I've bring the car to the track this summer.. with a broken wrist that i thought that was only a strain at the moment.. mainly i had a bones broken in 4 parts and needed a bone graft and some screw the weeks after.. however i did go with some motrins for pain control.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a155/elbigjer/IMG_3893.jpg

So let say a 20y/o driver with a broken wrist
with a stock chassis (had only the roll bar at that point, no strut brace)
Some coilovers that he've adjusted by the feeling on the road
Some falken Ziex 195/55R15
and a broken rear sway bar

how do you think that will drive?

Actually a FD3S was slowing me in the curves.. but good thing he had around 500whp (from what he said) and able to take 6 cars lengths in the straights, same with a teg with coilover..

Am I a genious racer? I seriously doubt, i've done some karting before but that was still my first time at the track with a real car. I do have about 3degree of negative camber all around tho so that must have helped a bit.

Oh yeah and I still need the recheck the bias of my brakes the front was locking way to easily.

So no my car is near to be perfect.

Now what I want to do on that car in the next few years:
Fender flare
Larger R compound tires (probably around 225)
Bigger brakes
get rid of the power sunroof, power windows and power mirrors
bucket seat with a harness
KA24DE-T (still working on my KA for now)
Slotted rear suspension (to get a adjustement on my rear camber..)
Adjustable tension rods
some more frame bracing

Just to say, like most cars, it's possible to make something solid with the good research, the good mods and a bit of love.

If you search for aftermarket support for the S12.. you will find little to nothing.. with a bit of research tho, you'll realise that a lot of parts from the S13, Z31, 280Z are interchangable with the model, so the aftermarket isnt really an issue.. especially if you can do a little bit of fabricating.

Now the thing about the S12 rear suspension crap... the suspension is totally different than the S13/14/15 .. yet it's still the same design than on the 510 and Z31 or bmw E30, the 510 have been used for years for racing and is still used today in some amateur GT races around where I live... the S12 suspension can be more than decent if you put a bit of time into it to redo the geometric a bit to correct the small mistakes nissan did (horrible camber when lowering with a changing toe with the suspension travel).

So I think that is about what i wanted to say for now, hopefully some of you understand a bit better the S12 and I will probably go on the forum from time to time if i need some S13/S14 parts or need some info about the more recent S chassis!

Cheers!

yeah they are quite decent car in my opinion, and the fact than you can get for really cheap is one of the reason why i bought mine.. it's also one of the reason why most S12 owners are on a really tight budget and just keep them in working condition and don't built them.

If you missed the introduction thread and saw the picture thread, you were not trying very hard...
They're both sticky at the top of this section.
Here it is:
