I have a redtop sr20 in a 89 shell and the clutch won't release for me to put it into gear I have a good pedal and the slave cylinder is pushing the fork but it absolutely won't go in gear and when I try to put it into reverse or something it just grinds any ideas?

Did you check if you have enough fluids (clutch and tranny fluid)?

Not that I know much about sr20's, but hopefully a experienced member can chime in for ya.

if the fork is moving the full length then it would probably be throw out bearing, pressure plate, the clutch itself, the tranny itself ect.. i would think something broke or became dislodged, but that is of course considering the fork is infact depressing the throwout bearing 100%

maybe your pivot ball broke? its common on 240sx.
nismo makes an uprated one for about $30
did you recently replace anything clutch related?
usually if you're having the problem you described its because your disc has fragged and there are pieces of friction material binding up between the flywheel and the disc.

I had a flywheel bolt back out on me and did the same thing full pedal travel, fork moved, slave extended, but the clutch wouldn't disengage. GL

yeah i reverse bled it and checked the slave and the fork is moving from what i see but i guess i wont know for sure of anything until i pull the tranny off could it be a bad master cylinder? maybe its moving the fork just not enough? I dont know i'm stumped.

my question, would be, can you go into gears while the car is off and shift into all gears with out resistance?

did you just do a swap , clutch , tranny swap etc.? is it bled? if so, check your fork linkage and make sure its on the pivot ball inside the bellhousing.. if that stupid ball wears out, it wont disengage OR engage.

I had the same problem with my car. The guy before me put in a stage 3 clutchmasters and one of the springs on the disc popped out and lodged itself to where the clutch couldn't engage. Only way to tell was to take tranny off. Good luck and don't buy clutchmasters. I have a springless twin disc HKS now.

well i pulled the tranny and saw that the release sleeve was getting stuck and the throwout bearing wasnt looking to hot either also the clutch was like welded to the flywheel and was in bad condition im gonna say this clutch was beat before i got it. When I ordered the engine there were a few problems but there were also some good things. It came with a gt2871r which was pretty cool the engine its self runs great and seems like its gonna kick hard as hell but i will update when i get my new clutch in. I had another question while i was at it. Should I go with a light weight flywheel or just get my stock one resurfaced? My setup as of now is 550cc hks, injectors z32maf, gt2871r turbo, tuned by safc neo(soon to send out ecu to get it flashed by enthalpy for my setup)

oh and i replaced the clutch slave master and all the lines bled it normally and reverse bled it so there is no air in the system so that wasnt it i have a great pedal i think it was the clutch being like welded to the flywheel
