ok, first of all this is what I am at now.

Engine - 91 DOHC KA
- Block: vat dipped, decked, bored .020" over, shot peened
- Head: vat dipped, decked, pressure tested and surfaced.
- CP forged pistons CR 9.0:1, .020" oversized
- shot peened stock rods
- cut/balanced crank
- Clevite Bearings (oversized)
- Mr. Gasket stuff
- ARP head studs
- Oil pan modified for 5/8" oil return
- Stock Valves with 3 Angle Valve Job
- BC Titanium Valve Springs w/seats and retainers
- BC Race cams (272/272)
- Cometic Head Gasket .90mm
- AEM Top feed fuel rail

I know i need turbo, injectors, intake mani w/q45 TB, and AEM/EMS and all that stuff.. I know what i am getting and everything like that.. I mean as far as the motor goes these questions apply..also I am looking to get about 350-400hp.

Questions:

Question #1- Is the Stock Valves with the 3 angle valve job going to be ok on this build, I read somewhere that the oversized valves really didnt help much. Im not sure about that.

Question #2- Are the shot peened Rods going to be ok, I also read that the rods are pretty durable for the KA.

Quesiton #3- With these cam/spring setup, can i still run the stock valve locks/keepers/cullets (Whatever you want to call them) that Im sure you can because they are on the stock valves.

Question #4- Just out of couriosity, i was wondering what turbo you think i can use to get about that HP range. OR even your pick of top feed injectors. (I was thinking Bosch super injectors at about 720-800cc)

Question #5- Now since im building a motor for boost, should i drop motor in with turbo on it, (during the break in period) or put stock exhaust manifold back on and break in for about 2000miles. How should i tune it for either senario?

I know maybe some of you will tell me to search, I did im just asking for the people you know or have experience. Thanks

Also, i did post this exact thread on KA-T.org, and only 1 person answered some questions.. He wasnt so sure on some ?'s.

for that power use a 2871 or 20g maybe even a evo 9 or 10 turbo.
720's will be fine. With any ka build get the strongest rods, ka's are weak in the bottom end when it comes to boost. You wont need after market keepers, and yes brake in the engine without the turbo that is best.

ok thanks,

but if i break in with turbo wouldnt that be best? due to breakin in with boost on it.. Not much until tune.

and with the turbo not on it, how should i tune it then. or you think everything will be ok.. stock maf, 272 cams and titanium springs? Because it says you must have tune with those cams and springs?

I honestly would break it in boosted. Every turbo car sold from the factory does it and they are just fine. I personally break in new motors pretty tough. I do keep it below 5000 rpms though.

yeah thats what i was thinking, break it in boosted and shift at the most of 3500rpms or less. drive for about 2000 miles, then get the tune and have fun?

The stock valves with a 3-angle job will be fine.

Question #2- Are the shot peened Rods going to be ok, I also read that the rods are pretty durable for the KA.

The rods will be okay around that power level with GOOD TUNING. IIRC the stock rods are shotpeened from the factory. Eagle rods are cheap and are more than enough for your intended power level.

Quesiton #3- With these cam/spring setup, can i still run the stock valve locks/keepers/cullets (Whatever you want to call them) that Im sure you can because they are on the stock valves.

Unless they come with their own keepers, use the stock ones.

Check out ka-t.org for turbo selection and what people have made. For the injectors you'll be fine with the 720cc injectors.

Whatever you want to do. Just make sure to change the oil frequently for the break in. There are MANY methods.

Answered in bold. As far as them not answering on KA-T.org, you might want to just try searching specific things on there. There are a lot of different setups there. You'll just have to research some more!
