Im having a wierd short in my ignition. Sometimes ignition power will die randomly and then come back on. Lately its gotten much worse to the point it will flicker on and off rapid fire making the relay click like mad. Ive changed the relay and the ignition fuse to no avail. One note is I do have a higher rated fuse in the ignition slot. a 40 instead of a 30. I dont know if that has any affect blah blah...

It is intermittent so its hard to diagnose. Two ways I can get it to happen intentionally but NOT every time. One way is to turn on my headlights, not my corner lights but my headlights. Another way is to play with the harness coming from the main fuse box in the engine bay. But again, it wont do it every time.

Ive taken the whole fuse box apart twice and inspected/wiggled each wire and cannot find a short.

Before I take my whole harness out I would like to know if anyone has had a similar problem or can give me some insight.

Oh yeah, I have H.I.D.s in case that has any relevance.

your keyhole might be worn to the point where you're not maknig proper contact.. i think my car has that problem now. it doesn't start unless i shimmy the key around a bit.

I thought about that, but as long as the ignition is in the on position shouldn't it get ignition power? When my igniton power cuts out I still get my door chime saying either the lights are on or the key is still in the ignition. Also how would that explain the lights?

What is ignition power? Does the engine die? Do you lose power to your acessories?

Does your car have an aftermarket alarm? did you do any type of custom wiring?

How about the front left fender harness? Is it damaged?

Ignition power is fuel pump, ECU, RAD fan (wired constant). It seems to take my ACC (accessories) power as well. If the engine is on and ignition power is cut, say you pull the ignition fuse, the engine will die. So yes when this issue occurs the engine dies right away as all power to the fuel pump and ecu is killed as if you turned the key to off.

Custom wiring yes. SR wiring. Fender harness was rubbed by tire but fixed. No sign of tire touching the wire at all.

SOLUTION:

For anyone who has a similar problem.

Inside the fuse box, one screw that holds in the 100amp fuse in vibrated loose. One side of the fuse was not tight against the metal, losing contact intermittently.

Kick panel fusebox or engine bay fuse box? and which fuse were you reffering to because I have the same exact problem but my car doesn't die unless I pull
an ignition fuse.
