I apologize if the word ass offends...
but do any other S14 owners have a nasty rattle comming from the rear end of the car?
I SWORE it was the rear deck lid that covers the speakers but after tieing it down numerous times ive decided it MUST be the heavy S14 spoiler....
do any S14 owners with NO spoiler have this rattle too?
I HATE IT! In socal the freeways have those bump things every like 5-10 feet and make my car bounce and therefor RATTLE...

Could be the trunk rattling. Try loosening, lowering, and then retightening the lock mechanism unit thingy that attaches that attaches to the trunk lid itself.
I also had the problem of my roof lining rattling at the back where it meets the rear glass. Took the whole thing down, bought some foam at a hardware store, super glued it to the side of the roof lining you don't see, and now no more rattling.

i have teh aforementioned rattle, and will testify that it is the trunk lid, but i can't figure out how to make it latch tight enough so that it won't bounce around
<note, owner before me installed the spoiler on a base model - so the lid spring may be different>

Doesn't it drive you nuts. I have trunk rattle but can't find the source, I think it's the trunk lid or the tiny missing/broken clip pieces that holds up the trunk interior, or could be a missing screw somewhere... it's like a splinter in your brain...

Trunk latch rattle. I just wrapped the latch with some duct tape. Hasn't rattled since I did it.

In my case it only rattled when the retainer clip for the trunk lid "springs" (that run under the rear deck) came off. That might be another place to look.

same here, it rattles like a bitch. I can hear it more now that i've removed all the trunk linings and stuch. I also have other noises coming from the rear, such as LSD noises, swaybar bushing squeaking, etc.
I just ignore it and pump up the music =)

Yeah, it's the entire interior - it's super loud all around, the rattling and the squeaks gives the car personality...

OHH OHHH!!! you guys too im was beginning to think i was the only one!!!!  a friend of mine had the same problem so he removed the spoiler and guess what the sound was still there just not as loud. So it could be the trunk lid bounceing. But my trunk is tight and guess what if i open my sun roof the rattleing stops like the extra presure from the air coming in through the sunroof holds what ever thats rattleing in place!! The trunk cross bar could be the problem it taps on each other but if ou have the plasting piece that holds it i guess it sould be okay. I dont know its annoying as hell though!!!!!

i was having a really annoying rattle too, but mine was from a missing eshaust bolt. rattle only happened when hitting a bump with my driver side wheels. didnt replace the bolt, just glued a few pieces of mouse-pad. hopefully it wont catch on fire before i make it to a hardware store

I had that exact same problem when I first went on a test drive with my car. I hit a pothole in the ground and the trunk made a loud annoying rattle after hitting it. I told the guy to fix it and I'd buy it and he did, the only problem is I can't recall exactly what he did... I could swear it was something to do with the latch being loose...

OK IVE SOLVED IT! except a small part...
the rattle is 3 part!
#1 rattle is the trunk itself... to fix this match the latch slightly lower (it should lower, no drilling needed)
#2 rattle is the wire looms whacking the trunk lid on bumps. electrical tape the offending wire to a neighboring wire cluster.
#3 rattle is a really high pitched wiggly noise.... i cant really describe it more then that.... i THINK its the plastic of the deck lid rubbing sideways? but i put foam underthere so maybe not... anybody know what this squeeking is?
and then after i drove around virtually rattle free my electrical system disliked not having rattles so it then proceeded to explode...

i had the same problem... i loosened the latch, pushed it down and retightened it... the sound still didnt go away so i tightened up the tension bars that raise the trunk up if you have a spoiler. get those things tight and your trunk shouldnt rattle anymore. if it does, its probably the wire loom or one of the clips hitting the lid. all three of these were my case, hope it helps. ;)
