Can I use an auto trans s13 alternator on a man trans s14 because mine died and my friend has a spare.

no because the s14 use internal coils while the s13 use a external coil

Good Lord. Since when does an alternator use a coil? It uses a winding.

A distributor uses a coil.

The alternators are the same unit for all 89-98 models, the charging stud is moved and a larger size on S14s, but bolts up fine to an S13 if you just drill the ring terminal. For your application, S13 unit on an S14, nothing is needed.

also, i think the s14 puts out like 10 more amps. but dont quote me on that ;)

Only 1995-96 SE models. 90A. All others are 80A.

SRs also use a 90A model on later S14 engines.

OP- what happened to your friend's spare alternator?
