so i drove the car normaly and it miss fired. standing at a red light, holding the brake, it would miss fire randomly. like a miss fire every 8 seconds.
recently we were heading over to a meet, did 120 to catch up to some one, and when i tryed to start the car next time, it reqired a litlle more crankng and the timing chain was louder. drove home no problem.

next time i needed to start the car, it doesnt want to start. it just cranks, and cranks, and cranks, but nothing.

1,so my questions are, how do u look to see if u get fuel to the engine?
2,why would chain be louder?

thanks a lot guys, i need this car fixed asap. i got classes every day 5am till 3pm, and my mom wants her camry back.

how do u change/check timing?

Could be many things going on, but its hard to say. You'll prob have to do some diggin around. If you want to see if its just result of misfiring, one at a time unplug your injectors. If it idles worse, then it will be the cylinder. Also could be your fuel injector is it idles the same in that cylinder. Last case, might be your orings. Also check your plugs and wires.

As far as your timing, here is a post I found on another site for you.

To check your cam timing, remove all the spark plugs and remove the valve cover. Have someone tap the starter while you have your thumb over the #1 spark plug hole. Once you feel compression, insure that the block timing pointer at the front pulley is pointing to the zero mark on the pulley. Remove distributor cap and insure that the rotor is pointing to #1 firing position. The #1 piston is now sitting at TDC compression stroke. Remove the upper and lower timing covers. Now look at the lower timing chain for the chain mating (silver) mark which should be at the crankshaft sprocket gear mark. The top end of the timing chain mating (silver) mark should be at the large idler sprocket gear mark. The upper timing chain mating (gold) mark should be at the small idler sprocket gear mark. The other two chain mating marks should at their cam gear marks. Here's a picture:

thanks to kel (xerox) i sorta figured out whats wrong with it. the chain thats on the cams is loose, and skipped a tooth some how. so we have to fix that tensionor.
