Ok so I got this used Megan manifold for $65 shipped from MrFuel (http://zilvia.net/f/sale-items/272631-megan-manifold-sr.html), which is a pretty good deal. Problem was, it had cracked but was supposedly "professionally repaired" and in "great shape" so when it finally arrived today (after 2 weeks  ) I inspected it and I am a little weary of putting it on.

check the pics:

The tube cracked here, and it was re-welded all the way around up until here:

ugh... i've waited sooo long to get my turbo set up installed and was going to put it on tomorrow, but now i'm not so sure. What is everyone's opinion?

will it leak? Do you not see that big crack in your pictures? Looks like they didn't "professionally repair" it. You will just hear a bad exhaust leak and some loss in power. I wouldn't run it because exhaust leak sound annoys the hell out of me. Why didn't you just buy a new megan? They are already dirt cheap. Check out the version 2 isis manifolds. They seem to look better than the megans as far as quality goes.

what crack? oh wait i made a fucking thread about it.

its welded all the way around and thats the only spot that was missed so I was hoping it would be sealed enough, or at least repairable. $65 shipped for a manifold that was supposedly "professionally repaired" sounded like a good deal to me. I just needed something to tide me over until I could afford an expreme while the car is stored over the winter.

imo, you're asking an obvious question. It clearly still has an opening where exhaust will leak out. There is no such thing as "sealed enough" to where it won't leak. If that crack isn't fixed, down the road its going to get worse from vibration.

I don't know if the seller told you that the crack wasn't welded all the way but if he didnt, I would try to get your money back. And if he did tell you, that was not a smart purchase. Clearly it wasn't welded there because the space is too tight for a torch.

Even if this is temporary, trust me, that exhaust leak is going to get on your nerves. Take a loss on this one and buy a new one. Isis if you dont have much money or shell out the money for a tomei expreme. I have a tomei manifold and its a pretty quality piece. Exhaust note with it is sick.

The shitty part about stainless manifolds is that once they cracked, they will continue to crack no matter how many times you reweld it. Just the nature of the beast. My Greddy Manifold started to crack, rewelded it, a month later its cracked again.

Really now? Because the stock cast manifold works fine. In fact, it works better at lowend then that manfold.

So you were saving up your pennies, then spent a majority of them on a manifold that you don't want?

Isn't that counterproductive?

I know when I wanted a manifold, I saved and waited for the one I want.

Keeps me from having to deal with the bs associated with removing the turbo as well as money because I got what I wanted.

get a refund

Get a refund and save the pennies, imo i think the stock cast manifold is more efficient and better then any manifold you can get unless your spending big bucks for a FR manifold or other top quality manis, and a fully tuned car...

I hate to burst your bubble, cdvr-s13, but i've had an Expreme Manifold, and guess what it cracked on the f'n dyno. I had enough, so I went back to stock, swain coated that sold iron; put it back on the dyno and actually posted better numbers than the Expreme crap. Don't waste your money on crack-o-fold manifolds; others will chime in and agree. Search up 'Codyace' he's putting out 400whp with the stock Manifold even has a dyno video to prove it; also good knowledgable guy.

ps. I use my Tomei Expreme as paper weight... total Junk.

is that the megan t3/t4 top mount mani? if so, good luck even getting a turbo to fit if you have a LHD car.

Tomei will replace your manifold if it cracks... A properly supported exhaust system has a lot to do with manifold fatigue

Hey, I'm just sayin

cdvr...you know this car stuff is expensive...If you're saving pennies to buy a $70 manifold, maybe you need to look into a cheaper hobby. At the price of the new Megan or ISIS crap, you should have bought new. I would see if you can get your money back, but I'm sure he was laughing all the way to the post office...
