My friends dad disconnected the pipe going into his muffler on his 350z and he said it sounds about like a Ferrari and said it sounds real good. I was wondering if this would sound good on a 240 if it's just real abnoxious?

I dunno....but I suppose you could always try it and if you don't like it then just put it back right?:p Be sure to tell us though!

I'm gonna try it when I can, I was just trying to save time before I go seaching through my dad's mess of tools for a 13 MM socket that's long enough to fit up the bolt. I've got long sockets all the way up to 12MM, but of course the nut is a 13MM.

i've ran with no exhaust at all, just a header and it was not something i would like to repeat. Right now my car has no muffler, but has all stock resonators in place and it sounds real nice. But i dont think it makes the car faster, probly makes it slower. :o

It sounds pretty good without a muffler. I like it without the muffler because it covers up some of the noise my tranny makes.

If you're running a non-turbo KA without a muffler and think that the noise level is appropriate I think it's time you took a course in respecting the rights of others not to go deaf sitting next to you at a light...

No muffler = red neck ghetto

It somehow might sound good on the 350z, but I'm sorry I just don't think your friends dad knows what the hell he is doing and hasn't heard a quality exhaust in his life, much less a Ferrari.

The only way it might sound good is because there are 2 more cylinders firing then you KA. It will sound extremely loud and raspy as hell on the KA. Why would you want something that screams for attention, not the good kind either. Give it a try if you want, but it will just be a waste of time.

hahah a ferrrari...

i think it's pretty safe to say that running no mufflers on any 4cyl car would make for a really raspy, cheap0 bumblebee type of sound :p

Only 4 cylinder engine I know of that sounds good with an unrestricted exhaust is a boxster; H4. WRX, etc..

My 240 has a fist size hole on the bottom of the muffler, which I tried to address with a muffler patch kit, to no avail when the hole was quarter size, and while it doesn't sound terrible.. I would expect there to be performance hit.
