gauging interest: s-chasis car show

i'm thinking about trying to set up an s-chasis car show in the 562-714 area, and i wanted to see how many people would attend if i do. i don't want it to be just another meet or bbq. i want to have some awards or trophies and raffles and stuff like that.

i'm thinking on a saturday, maybe early october

i have never done this before, so if you have and you think you can help me, let me know.

Hi jspeedm, that sounds like a good idea. I'm not sure how much interest you will get. Maybe you should start a thread specifically with that in mind. The biggest things to remember when it comes to events like this are legal and law enforcement issues. Make sure you go over the city's ordinance in the city you are hosting the event. Check in with police officers or the department. Also check with Fire Marshals and their department for precautions against accidents, fire hazards, and entry/exit routes. You will also want to check the surrounding businesses or entities for approval before starting. For example, if the event is near a residential area such as apartments or homes, you may want to constantly control the sound level and make sure everyone is in their designated area such as parking spaces.

Bottom line is it will take a lot of planning and approval before you can start an event especially one having to do with cars and large amount of people. You will find that many attendees will not follow rules and guidelines, but instead do the opposite and break the laws. Then the law enforcements will step in and you will be held responsible for their actions. You must take every possible precautions so scenarios like that will not happen.

Well, hopefully I was able to inform you many of the factors. Although there are many steps involved, it would prove to be fun and beneficial to all S-chassis lovers and alike.

im down and i could bring at least 4 240's just let me know and ill be there for sure with some food, ohy and when i threw mine i just asked the park if it was ok and they said it was fine first come first serve for parking your where there 3 cops showed up and didnt bother us at all

i attended a 240sx bbq/meet. it was held at griffith park. there were about 60 cars there. it will be hard to get people to go if ur going to charge them to enter. if you get sponsers then they can provide small prizes and help with the bbq. i have been working with a performance company thats trying to get their name out there. im sure they will be willing to help sponser some.
