So i got a 240sx about 3 weeks ago and it wasnt running when i got, was told the ecu was bad. But when you try to start it NOTHING happens. No clicks from the starter nothing. Even when you run a wire straight to the starter from the battery nothing happens. I even ran a ground straight from the starter to the car. So now i have no idea why the starter isnt doing anything. Anyone have any thoughts? This is my first 240, ive had about 15 hondas before this so i know nothing about 240s. Thanks.

Also i changed the ecu out and put a new one.

Does Sound Like A Bad Starter. Try Replacing It. If All The Light Come On the Dash And It Just Doesn't Crank At All Then That's What I Would Replace. Of Course Look At Your Engine Thoroughly For Anything Suspicious.

Did you jump the main power wire with a small wire to the solenoid? I can't tell from what you said if you just hooked it to the main power spot. You need power to the main large post and to the solenoid. What part of the starter did you hook a ground to? You shouldn't need to do that.

well the ecu wont go bad until u cant hear a buzzzzzz thatthe ecu try to send the signal to release the fuel to the motor...if u dont here that then that a bad ecu...but doesnt click or doesnt check your positive wire....Try to get the voltage meter and check the starter with grounded wire to see if there any voltage.if is not..then u have ur self a bad starter

thanks for the quick replys.
i was checking everything over and looked at the clutch pedal and noticed the thing that pushes the button that tells the car you have the clutch pressed in was gone. so i pushed it with my finger and tried to start the car and BAM! the motor turned over.

Well for the mean time i suppose you can remove the Clutch Interlock Relay in your fuse box, and jump 3 to 5 to bypass the need for the clutch all together till you fix it of course! Good luck!

Sounds like it's missing the little rubber "plug" that pushes against the switch....

^Yeah just wrap the pedal with some tape a few times(where it is supposed to push in the button) or put a coin there and tape it, problem solved.

haha thats EXACTLY what i did. i taped a penny the the pedal so it would push the button.
