engine storage questions

I'm going to be pulling my motor and leaving it on a stand for a few months up to a year. Reason is i'm going to change the gaskets, fix some stuff and cleaning but i rarely have time and money so it will be a slow progress. Question is what precations should i take to make sure it starts back up just fine after over a year of storage besides oil and pouring it over the cams and stuff. Thanks.

Keep it in moisture free environment and cover the engine up to prevent things falling in. take it to the machine shop if u are changing all the gaskets and machine it.
