ok so heres the story about a little over a month from now i ordered a 180sx type x lip from them. I sent them payment of $175 wich was what they had advertised on there web site through the use of paypal. 2 weeks go by and i start wondering where the hell my lip is. So, i gave them a call and talked to i guess the owner chris. He told me that they had recieved my order and it was ready to be shipped they just needed me to pay for the shipping fee. I was like wtf the website did not state that there were any additional fees. After talking he told me that it would be an additional $35 to ship the lip to me. i was ok and sent him the money request. He assured me that it would be shipped the next day.

So a week goes by and still no lip. im starting to get real pissed off because i was on my way to europe for the next 3.5 weeks. last thursday i recieved an email asking for a money request of $100 threw paypal for the shipping cost. right now i am very agrevated because he keeps asking for more money that wasntt stated on there site or when we talked over the phone. i told him that the extra money request for 100 was bullshit and that i will not be paying it. And we i called him on the phone he kept making excusses and blamming the (people at the shop). I told him that if he did not ship the item in the next 48 hours i will be filing a suit with paypal and the BBB. he told me he would call me in the next day but obvisiouly he is not professional enough to keep clients and customers in mind.

Spark notes

-i buy a kouki replica lip spoiler for 175
-2 weeks go by and its a no show
- i give him a call and he says they need 35 for shipping ( i was ok with)
-another week goes by and lip is still not here
- a day later i recive another money request for $100 stating its for shipping cost
- i call him and he seems very sketchy and incoherient
- i told him i want a refund if its not shipped in the next two days
- he said he would call me in a day to tell me the situation ( never called)
- now........ im out money, he doesnt pick up, and just keeps making excuses.

STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS.

So now Chris wants nothing to do with me returning the damaged lip he sent since UPS won't fill the claim (they are saying it wasn't packed right).

He doesn't return any of my emails and has done NOTHING to rectify the situation.

I have no idea how this guy stays in busines..

So as of now I'm stuck with a damaged lip and out over $200 to this scumbag.

FYI - UPS sucks for anything car part related. They can easily just saw "improperly packaged" to any broken FRP part. Trust me, I know.

Best of luck with the whole situation.

I just want to give my two cents on modiride... Stay away from him. I believe it just one person chris. He tried to sell me a carbon fiber lip for 400 then I saw he posted it for 275 on a thread and he tells me that it was a promotion so I said Ill just take the fiberglass version. He Called me no kidding 5 times a day for three days to see if I sent payment including at 11pm. From there I knew he was fake so when I called him back and said I dont trust paypal and I was located in LA near him and If I could just go to the shop and pick up a lip spoiler and he started making all these excuses like oh we need to make an appointment and were real busy. He's full of it stay away from him Im glad I trusted my instincts. His website also gives him away for what he his. What website do you know thats been in business since 1992 and still under construction and doesnt have a address for the company.

Good business is usually the scenario when you know where the person sleeps. As far as why he's still in business, supply and demand, even if the supply isn't there, the demand always will. Being this company supplies what's demanded, and no one else does (except crimson rocket, majority of the time, correct me if i'm wrong), he'll stay in business longer then most crooked business's.

I've also heard horrible customer service stories for this company from personal friends, hoping i get lucky when my time comes for a lip.

My dealt with Chris before when I had a ae86. I bought into most of his cf j-blood copies. Man, it took about 6 months just for the hatch and even more for the drop vent hood. I had to rant on club4ag and he countered responded saying it was all false accusation. Anyways, I had to drive to his shop of the I-5/redford to pressured him to make it that day so I can pick it up on a week. Anyways, he gave me this lame ass hood that just cracked on me but I was so sick of his shit that I just took it and left.

Fak that guy and his shitty shop! Stay far far away from this guy!!! your better off!

Just saw this thread and would like to add my personal experience.

I wanted to buy a replica lip from Modiride. As they do not have shipping costs on their website, I emailed them for a quote. They replied with a pretty decent shipped price, so I said I would like to purchase it. If I recall correctly, they asked me to Paypal the price of the lip, and said they would send a separate bill for the shipping. I sent the money for the lip.

After a few days I received the bill for the shipping, which was much higher than the cost I was originally quoted. So I emailed them and was told to send them the email with the original quote, and they said the shipping bill was a mistake, and it was canceled. I asked when I can pay for the shipping, because I wanted the lip. Do not remember what they replied or if they replied, but I never got to pay for the shipping.

Meanwhile, I talked to a couple people who have bought the lip through them, and they said Modiride pulled the same thing on them. They were quoted a good price, but then were ended up being billed a much higher price, and after haggling they both eventually paid a price that was halfway between the first and second, and received their lips. Aware of this, I tried emailing and calling Modiride, to let them know that even though it is not the great original price I were quoted, I am willing to pay the same halfway price that they charged other people, as I just wanted the lip already. However, that is about the same time when they stopped responding to my emails and calls.

After waiting a while, I told them I would like them to return the money I sent for the lip. After waiting another while, I filed a Paypal dispute. After more waiting, I escalated the dispute to a claim. They returned the money on the final day of the claim.

Ironically, during this ordeal, I bought the same lip from Japan, and for almost the same price as Modiride's original quote. It arrived in about a week with no problems.
