I currently bought a 96 240 and i wanted some opinions. My car is an automatic and i am going to do a 5spd swap and and a SR swap eventually once i get the money. So i was wondering if it would be a good idea to do the 5spd swap first then do the sr swap or should i just wait until i can do the sr swap and do it all at once? Also if I just do the 5spd swap would a SR tranny line up with a ka?

Thanks
-Chris

The KA and SR bellhousings are different so if you do the 5 spd swap now you'll just have an extra transmission laying around. But, on the up side you'll have all the 5 spd components and little bits of work done so the SR swap will just drop right in.

Either way you're going to have to do all pedal/line/slave/tranny swapping one way or the other.

You should just do everthing at once, right now I suggest to pile on the parts for the swap and for the Sr20 swap. One thing you should be also thinking about is whether you want a s13 red or blacktop or stepping it up to a s14 notchback with the T-28 turbo:)

if ur going to do an sr swap id wait til you have all the money to buy the motor and everything else, unless you find a cheap tranny then you just be out a little money, so either yopu ur good

Save up, swap it and enjoy.

Dont waste money on a 5 speed for your KA if you're gonna go the SR route later on.

In a nut shell, the S13 red/black top have a T25 turbo. The red top is older, so cheaper. The black top has less miles on it. The S14 SR is cool b/c of the VTC and T28 single ball bearing turbo.

wiki it :P

^^^ thanks everyone, that helped alot!!

Another question i have is would a set of 17x7.5 +45 sdx rota wheels fit on a 96 with stock suspension? And of course i am going to chang the coils so will they also fit with aftermarket coils? When i say fit, i meant will they hit the coils or will i need any spacers etc...
