I am putting a SR20DET into a 1975 280Z and I don't have much room for gauges.
That said I am wondering if I can scrap the need for a boost gauge. I was under the impression that I needed a boost gauge just so I know that I am not over boosting. But then I thought, "you have an electronic boost controller. How would it know what level to set the boost to if it did not already have an internal gauge?"
Am I correct with this thinking? A buddy of mine was saying to get a boost gauge so I would know exactly how much I am boosting in real time (the electro boost controller will be in the glove compartment.) but i think thats not really necessary. I wont be playing with boost that much anyway, and if I set the boost to 10lbs I would think it would stay at 10lbs.
Like I said, I have about 4 stock holes in the dash for gauges (not including the area for tach and speedo), I could make a custom panel that would replace the heater/AC controller and place gauges within that panel, but I wish to keep the interior as stock looking as possible.
