Gas door nut size

Ive searched everywhere and I cant determine the nut size that holds the spring for the gas door. Mine fell off while autocrossing a few years ago and ive finally grown tired of having to pop the trunk when getting gas.

Heres a picture reference and the piece in question is the nylon nut on the back of the spring.

It's probably M12x1.25 but I wouldn't stake my life on it.

You can just use a piece of thin wire and a washer, pull it extra tight and it will sit into the threads. It's janky but it does work.
