View Full Version : subframe spacers?
are the subframe spacers gel filled like the rest of our bushings?... or are they all rubber. i was planning on getting greg dupree subframe spacers already. it that sufficent enough?... or do i need to replace the bushing while im at it.

if your bushings are bad, subframe spacers WONT fix that problem
subframe spacers eliminate the slop and extra space in the subframe, compress it to reduce play.
changing bushings in subframe is a PAIN IN THE ASS! not recommending for those withoug extra subframes or lack of skill. its not fun. you have to drop the subframe, iirc, burn the old bushings out and press new ones in. subframes arent light! my friend has a extra one, uuugh heavy.
the subframe spacers made by greg are solid aluminum. well made and work great (i have a set on my car)
btw, they are worth every penny!!
Are the actual stock subframe bushings themselves gel filled like tc rod bushings or are they solid rubber?
I believe thats what DMC meant to ask...since we were talking about spacers earlier and said they are either metal or polyurethane.

(btw are they gel filled?) will they be sufficent. i was told whiel i hae them off might as well get the oem bushings put on as well. i'm not doing it. too much of a P.I.T.A!....whats ur recommendations?

sigh..so much misinfo
NO they dont replace the stock bushings
all you are taking off is the lower bolt putting the spacers in adn bolting bakc up. takes 30 mins MAX (except toso-first guy to sell them to 240sx guys and me did it in 20mins haha-jacking up car, removign installing and driving after). anyways, they just compress the subframe, reduce the slop. great for reducing that nasty wheel hop
recommendation? if your subframe bushigns are blown you need them replaced anyways. better have a extra subframe lying around or lots of free time ont he weekend as well as access to get the new ones put in and the old ones out. i THINK they are gel filled but i forget.
NO subframe spacers on the market (Uras, Kazama, Greg Dupree, Home Depot SPL) replace the bushings!!

I'm noticing that one question hasn't been answered. Are the stock bushings gel filled?

i dunno the answer to that question, but since were on the topic of subframe bushings you might want to look at the Whiteline Rear Nissan Sub-Frame Align and Lock Kit. I have it on my s13 coupe and it does a great job setting up the car for the track, drifting and normal road use.

EASIEST EVER!
They is one tiny cut on each bushing and they just slide into place. Instructions show you how to install and how to place the bushings for different applications. (in order to change how your subframe sits under loads)

NO!!!!
the whiteline are NOT bushings. they are SPACERS!!
whiteline is same as dupree but they have upper ones more for more adjustment/tweaking of your subframe, makes your car handle differently
transient, i think they are gel filled (subframe bushings) but not 100% sure. i'll try and find out.

Correct. They are spacers, not replacement bushings.
Everyone I've talked to (including Don Nimi of PDM Racing) says not to bother with the subframe bushings themselves. There are more important bushings to replace first. Start with the TC Rods, they are most likely cracked and useless.

I have the greg dupree spaces and they help alot! Big change.
But they will add more noise into the cabin if you care about that.
