I blew my KA and was planning on getting an SR and now I have an excuse. I also need a car so I need my car running soon. I can either get an S13 blacktop SR from Canada in a week or the same or maybe J4 Kouki SR from a shop's from Japan which will make it here in 3 weeks. I am leaving for college in 4 weeks.
Basically, my friends are saying I should wait for the bin from Japan so I can get one from there, but how do Canadian SR's usually turn out?

don't buy a motor unless you can see it and touch it. this is advice to take even staying in the U.S.
trust me.

Bump. Has anyone had any experience with Canadian SR's?
I'm from Canada. Have never had a problem with the SR's here. They're still all coming from Japan. Haha.
I'd still prefer to deal with locals though. Easier to sort out if the motor is bad.

Well a local shop has a bin with 13 SR's coming in 3 weeks but I need a motor for college in 4. He said he knows some people in Canada that can get a blacktop with 30-40k here in a week.
I'm also in Georgia so it's kinda hard to find SR's here.

Soooo...if you're in Georgia, why would you go to Canada? I'm not saying you have to listen to me, but do some searching man.
As far as the U.S., avoid zerolift autolab and JDM engine depot.
Good luck with that. Just an fyi- You're not going to make it to college. Don't forget your multiplications & factors. It's 2.5 times however long you think it will take and 1.5 times the cost.

do you know someone local that can check it out and witness the compression test?
Where in Canada is the shop btw?

Ok, you do realise Canada is the 2nd largerst country in the world by landmass with over 35 million people right?
If it was in the same province/city I would look at it, or even put you on to my supplier that has clips in stock.

you could try JDM Engine depot if you know someone local who can pick one out for you, DONT USE TIGER JAP. they screw'd me over big time, didnt have a place to order a wiring harness, but it was pictured. when i called they sold me one for 200$ but it had no ignitor. PM me if you want me to take a ride to jdm engine depot for you to pick a nice clean one out for ya, wish someone could have done the same for me, but you live and learn. ohwell.

yeah, i was able to pick out a "clean" one from them. which then needed about $1K of parts just to get it running. just so you know, they DON'T fire them up for you beforehand. hopefully they've figured out how to pick up an engine at this point as well.
