Hey guys,
So my transmission is stuck in first gear, so I'm looking into replacing it.
1996 Nissan Maxima
Anyone tackled this thing themselves??
As far as replacing it with a good auto tranny.
Or any shops that do a badass job in replacing them.
Thanks for the info or any info.......:w00t:

Whaaattt!!!!??^^^^
I was reading around on maxima.org and there were so many mixed answers.
I'd say I'm at least a novice, replaced basic alternator, starter, suspension, yadayada,
What all would I need? I have a floor jack and basic tools.
Any writeups you can point me to?
I'd much appreciate it.

Wrenches, jack stands, socket set, jack, a friend, and muscles.
edit/ And the factory service manual if you have never done it. google for an FSM or ask for one on a maxima forum. Sure they know where you can download a PDF version

I read the FSM< is it really that basic? I'm more of the picture guy.
I'm sure once I dig in it will be fine.
The only unnerving part is the measurement of the torque convertor. And matching the 'metal teeth'
So like 4 jackstands? and a floor jack?
edit>
also where would be a good place to source a nice used transmission?
Local would be right in Socal.
Thanks
