A guy wants $900 for this, says it runs great which is all i'm really worried about, but how does this look to you guys? Serious frame damage or easily repairable?

Serious frame damage... i dont know.... but there is some frame damage.
David B S12
06-30-2009, 01:14 AM
looks fine, get a new bumper support/bumper assembly and hammer some shit out
i highly doubt thats frame damage that would effect driving of the car
if u think it does, ask to drive it
doesn't look like the trunk is closing... gonna coast you a pretty penny to repair.
the trunk looks almost flush, like probally like 3 mill off of the locking point on the lock, just needs some friendly hammering/ adjusting
ive seen 100's of drift s chassis cars with similar or worse damage from tapping the rear while drifting and never have heard of the actual frame damage effecting the drive of the car, if the frame is actualy really twisted up

But if you're just trying to get a nice car.

It is supposed to be a DD for a friend, I already have a clean hatch. I was just wondering whether or not you guys think I would have been able to get a new support and hammer some things out to have it look halfway decent.

$500 max and that's what I would pay all the way on the other side of the country in Ohio where 240s aren't very plentiful. If the seller won't budge tell him to stop being a drift taxing prick and move on to a different car. As for the actual damage, a mini sledge will solve you're fitment problem and other than that a new bumper and support and you should be good to go.

is everyone over looking the fact that he said it had a nice running KA in it. That alone is worth about $400. Everyone is talkin about how cheap they got theirs and yeah i got mine for $200 but with no motor and no trans. I say do what you wanna do. You can knock some of that ish out and have a total of $1100 tops into it and have a mint 240sx.

If it really ran great im pretty sure he could have made more than $900 from parting it out and selling the rest to a junker.

06-30-2009, 09:50 AM
That is a steal. You should definitely take advantage of it.
The seller is obviously unaware that they could get probably at least 5K$ for it if they sold it as a 'missile car.'

Fastbacks love rear hits, the floorpan folds up nicely before the bumper reinforcement ever does. Every inch it's pushed in is another inch you'll have to pull on a frame machine.
I'd offer $250. Then part it.

If you want a 240 that isn't a pile o shit it's whole life, don't buy one that your starting off as a pile o shit.

Like stated several times...that has frame damage.
Even though it looks minor, it'll be an expensive fix.
The money you'd spend TRYING to fix it, you might as well have just paid more and bought a cleaner chassis.

can you offer him less, like 650?
people say frame damage etc. but no frame damage back there is going to effect the driving of the car... no pulling is needed if you get new support and bumper back on, and hammer till the trunk closes properly. even if u have a somewhat 'folded' floorpan who cares? foreal, get the car lookig normal, and driving fine, put some carpet back there god,
i call FRAME DAMAGE, damages like the frame rails being bent left and right, a warped up body, i hardcore side swipe, any type of damage that would unbalance the car, looking at the pics youre rear quarterpanels look fine... lots of guys put dents in those from rolling there fenders or dropping the car, its good you dont have damamges there, and sice the car is unibody, rear quarterpanel damage is usually the first place to check for a twisted frame, and you ahve none, (i think)
from my pov, i see some rear crimpling, and like i said ive seen worse driving around..
how is someone going to tell you, thats a expensive fix? do you know them personally on the forum? there fab skills? the yards in there area?
lots of owners dont touch there car, they think a oil change is 65 dollars at a shop
whats expensive to you, all depends on you, where u live, ure ability to work on a car, and where can you get parts, for free, or for $
everyone says they get there 240's for cheap, and then they boast 'oh i got mine for 200'
i got my 200, for like 350 bucks, and a ka24e for 40 dollaars to put in it, i mean hey it was cheap but thats because i knew some people
if you dont drift, or if you dont have too many 240 friends
you will NOT, find a good deal like stated usually, ull keep finding higher priced ones
check out a local meet or drift event or something, ask around, lurk some other forums,
if u dont feel like doing that then pay the extra $

Face it you live in North Virginia not exactly a known place for 240 chassis. He is in SoCal, more 240sx's were sold here than in almost any other part of the country. What is decent to you is Junk to us.
Oh and and I firmly believe in starting out a project with a good base rather than a shit base. That car is a shit base and it will always be in the back of his head. Unless he absolutely does not care and gets for $500 and takes it to the track and just destroys it, its just not worth it.
Oh and It may have a good running KA but if so he is just spending $600 extra for that fact.
He would be better off buying a clean non running shell for $600-800 and getting a DOHC engine for $400. He would wind up with a much nicer car for not to much more.
Or he can just buck and find himself a decent automatic car for around $1500-2k and swap it out to a manual himself. In the end he would wind up with a cleaner car and less headaches.

so how about you guys actually, find a posted link of a cleaner car for him? rather then be immature and call me an idiot because you work at a bodyshop, cool, you work at a body shop.great. by the way you didnt listen to me, if you work at a shop that doesnt matter to HIS fab skills, HIS friends that can give him deals if he has them, etc... you totally skipped my point
and you guys say, " i get them so cheap here etc" find a link for the guy? if so? then that would be great for the op, and no argueing or bs needs to happen

Well if the shoe fits? Wear it. LOL Seriously dude some people like there daily driver to look better than a janky shit pile. Just because you are comfortable driving a Janky looking shit pile? Does not mean all of us are. You paint your assumptions in broad strokes.
Oh and your math fails you. $800 for a chassis and $400 for engine is $1200 if you are putting it in yourself you are maybe spending another $100 on extra shit. thats still only $400 more for quite probably a straight chassis that has not been hit.
I sold a very nice straight black 90 SE no sunroof fastback for $800 last week. Like I told you before. The shit is here and why the fuck should we do his homework?
Oh wait I forgot you're from the spoon feed internet generation. Who can't bother to get off their asses and go look for shit themselves, or at least you're acting like you are. LOL
Its simple you want the good stuff you go out and look for it. If you do the footwork you reap the benefits.
Oh I and I can guarantee he did not look everywhere! Otherwise he would have bought my chassis. Or he would have bought the Red 1991 Automatic fastback in the San Fernando Valley (35 miles from him) on Craigslist.

The car is a piece of shit and not worth the money.
You obviously love driving around in pieces of shit that look like crap. Or you would not have tried to defend your position on it so much.
Fact is the car is not worth $900 many people have stated that. Many people have showed the guy was not doing his homework and you wanted us to find him a car? Fuck grow the fuck up.
I said it before you want to us to spoon feed the guy and you would probably want us to spoon feed you. It's just not going to happen and the consensus runs in favor of the fact that the car is junk .
